Bury Me Alive

Bury Me Alive What a duplicitous world; masks are worn to hide truths and roles are played to fake realities! We live on one land divided by two worlds, two sides, two states of being. In one world, people eat dust as their main course and their blood is drunk by the Vampires clan in order to survive. Parasites living off their hosts who also play the role of silent captives. In the other world, people sparkle like stars in the night sky. Their days are a staged play while their nights are endless hours of festivity. They swim in cold water and binge what others are deprived of. In a recently shocking phenomenon known as "The Ice Bucket Challenge"; some celebrities and high profile people dared each other to dump ice-cold water over their heads or donate money toward fighting ALS- also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. While their intentions sound sincere and really worth noting since they're "fighting" for a cause, is this really how donations should be raised? Whether you're one of the opposers or supporters of such a challenge, it doesn't negate the fact that it still is water being wasted for the sake of money raised! How ironic that 4 million dollars were raised and in return a famous celebrity "drowned" herself. Sources from Forbes.com have reported that "the Scottish teenager, 18-year-old Cameron Lancaster, supposedly drowned after jumping into a flooded quarry."! And the charade continues in this divided world we live in. While celebrities out there are daring each other to raise money, people in Gaza are being submerged in rubble and dust to spread awareness about the destruction they live in on a daily basis. Indeed God Has created us different; leading different lives, eating different foods, dressing different clothes but we still share our humanity that brings us together when times are tough to bear.

Bury Me Alive

What a duplicitous world; masks are worn to hide truths and roles are played to fake realities!

We silently watch the news headlines on our screens and the on-going news updates on our social networking sites about the never-ending attacks against Gaza but do we really feel an ounce of their suffering? Do we even care to have any kind of challenge in order to raise money or awareness about their misery? Have we ever stopped to ponder the scenes of trampede from the Israeli forces on the homes and land of our sisters and brothers to think that they are literally being buried alive?!

If the "Dust Bucket Challenge" should teach us anything, it is to imagine, conceive, and understand the reality of a land that has been soaked in blood, debris, and body parts of the victims that in the other world's eyes are plotting against it and so "you just have to fight against people who want to murder you."

According to a timeline of the Israeli brutal attacks on Gaza that has been published on Wikipedia, the death toll count of the Palestinians from July until August 26th has reached "nearly 2,000 lives lost" and we still can't really perceive the reality of these massacres!

The question is, do we really need to feel the reality of their pain in order to support them? Do we really need to jump under a gallon of dust to clearly see what goes on in their lives before we take a step forward? Do we even have enough courage to dare each other into taking that challenge? What does it mean to have a dust bucket challenge? If you cant find an answer to these questions, then continue reading the following lines:

In your eyes I appear weak, small, and defenselessIn your eyes I endure the pain of the helpless; You can see me but you cant feel meYou only pity me but you dont know meYou can hear my screams loud and clearYou can feel my tears shading my fears. By the time you move maybe Ill be gone So dont seek to find my life because,Ill be buried alive.
