BTB Traveling Baseball Commitment

Those players/parents interested in the Traveling Baseball program must recognize the responsibility and commitment that accompanies being selected to play Traveling Baseball.

• It is understood that the players will be on time for practices and games.

Other sports or sports camps are not legitimate reasons for missing tryouts, practices, games, or tournaments.

• Parents must participate in BTB sponsored tournaments by volunteering their time to make these events successful.

• All parents or guardians of Traveling Baseball players are required to volunteer time for our Burnsville Tournament (June 6-8th) and one State Tournament (July 11-13, or July 18-20).

Inclement Weather

• In case of inclement weather, the coach will determine if there will be a practice. At games, the home team’s coach is responsible for determining whether the game will be started. Once play begins, the umpire is responsible for determining whether play should be halted. In all cases, unless you receive a call from your team’s coach or manager, you should appear at the site of the game or practice as scheduled. Weather conditions can vary widely even over short distances, so our policy is to make the decision at the field site. Games and practices will be suspended when lighting is visible. If you (parent/guardian) are not able to be present during an event, be sure that your child knows another parent who will be present and with whom he/she can take shelter if bad weather suddenly threatens.

• Players are divided into groups of approximately 8-10 players. Coaches and independent evaluators, from outside the program or from a different age-level, will evaluate the players • Players are evaluated and graded in three areas: hitting, fielding and throwing. • The pitching/catching evaluation is not required, but is recommended. The pitching/catching evaluation is used to help the coaches determine who can pitch/catch, but pitching/catching may also separate two or more players that are real close in their rankings. • A final look/workout will be held to validate the grading. After the indoor scrimmage, player selections are completed. • The coaches and age level directors will structure the final look/workout for their age group. The coaches will then meet with board members and conduct team selections if there is more than one team at the same level (A or B). ***The Age Level Director is responsible for running the tryout. ***

In-House Reassignments: • A player who does not make a traveling team will be re-registered with In-House Baseball . Your fee that you have paid will be transferred to the in house program-minus the tryout fee-as indicated during your registration. •We regret that since In-House Baseball teams may already be formed at the time that Traveling Baseball makes its selections, it is unlikely that you will be placed on a neighborhood team. •If you selected a refund, that money will be refunded to you.
