Probleem?

Er is dus behoefte aan een nieuwe definitie en een degelijk onderbouwde tool om burn-out te meten,

die drie doelen kan nastreven:

1) het preventief screenen (in bijvoorbeeld organisaties)

2) Het correct diagnosticeren (door eerstelijnshulpverleners) en

3) het opvolgen van patiënten (voor behandeling en re-integratie)

Burn-out prevalentie

Bestudeerd in een veelheid aan populaties

Prevalentie cijfers variëren van 69% (medisch oncologen; Blanchard et al., 2010) tot 0,8% bij de Belgische beroepsbevolking (Hansez, 2010)

De meeste studies vinden een prevalentie van rond de 5% voor de vaststelling van burn-out tot 14% voor zij die een risico lopen (Geuens et al., 2018)

Longitudinaal betrouwbaar onderzoek is afwezig

In 2010 en in 2018 zijn stress (63.3% in 2018) en uitputting (53.2% in 2018) de meest gemelde klachten

Tussen 2010 en 2018, merken we een toename in de frequentie van het optreden van symptomen

Het is geen diagnose maar een dynamisch syndroom bestaande uit 5 categorieën

Verder onderzoek nodig naar wat het is (en niet is)

We moeten verder de invloed van maatschappelijke tendensen uitklaren

Kwaliteitsvol onderzoek naar interventies op micro-meso-marco niveau zijn nodig

Als je niets verandert, dan verandert er niets
