Someof the adults were swimming with thekids in the knee to waist-deep water.Noticing that the waves were gettingbigger and the current was gettingstronger (as the tide changed) theytold the kids it was time to go. Atthat moment, a big wave hit on topof Felipe Rabaja and Abner No-lasco, pulling them out to sea withits strong current. Felipe was able toget himself up and tried to grab Abner, but Abner was pulled away anddisappeared into the water. They alltried desperately to rescue him(even risking their own lives, havingto be rescued by fishing boats), butthey could not find him. Our happy-go lucky Abner w^s gene! To our Dear Friends,

"Through Jesus, therefore, let uscontinually offer to God a sacrifice ofpraise—the fruit of lips that confesshis name. And do not forget to dogood and to share with others, forwith such sacrifice God is pieased."Hebrews 13:15 & 16

We want to give our praise to theLord for His wonderful blessingsto us!! How wonderful to be Hischildren, under His care, and In Hisfamily. Through Jesus we have allbecome His children. We praiseHim for all of you who "do good andshare" with us so we can share withothers.

What a wonderful furlough we had!Even though It is hard to be awayfrom home for so long, we are rejoicing in the many blessings andwonderful experiences. The Lordkept us healthy and safe the entiretime, with the kids only having acold. We praise the Lord for thewonderful Christian brother wholoaned us a car from his dealershipfor the 2 ^2 months we were in theStates. We are thankful for friendswho so generously provided lodgingfor us in their apartments or homes.Although Bert ended up going backto the Philippines early, we wereable to enjoy many blessings together. We visited several supporting churches and also a few newchurches who were interested in

what we are doing here through theChildren's Home. We participated ina couple wonderful camps as well.It was great fun to renew old friendships, and to meet many of you forthe first time. An added blessing forus was to be able to spend sometime with two of our children who

Jordan & Jacob are glad to behome, but getting back into schoolafter four months is a challenge forthem, especially for Jordan. He haschosen to home school this year, and will try to accomplish two yearsof study in one year. Pray for bothboys and their ability to get busy andmake up for lost time. Also pray forthem in their teen-age years.

the Home has

caused some

problems, whichof course, affects the whole Children's Home

family, and also our local church.Pray that Satan will not have anyvictory in this problem, which is stillin the process of being settled. Also, some attitude problems in thechildren, especially the teen-agers,manifest themselves while we were

away. This is nothing out of the ordinary, but with the multiplied number of kids, and with our expectations of them while we are away, itcan be discouraging. Having to dealwith problems always saps energy, but in all of it we must remember we

October 1999}are working for the Lord to raise Hischildren, and we are to teach themin the Word and the way of salvation. We realize the problems couldbe much worse than they are, andwe are thankful they are rather smallproblems we have to deal with! Please continue to hold the childrenup in prayer. No matter where welive, Satan is busy at work trying todiscourage and destroy!

We have suspended work on theschool building while we accumulate more funds, but still hope tohave it completed in the spring ofnext year. Our thanks to all whohave had a part in accomplishing theconstruction of this building. Thewalls are up, the roof finished, andsome of the steel window frames are

in. We still have finishing work todo; electrical, plumbing, doors, therest of the window frames, andglass. New computers have beendonated and are arriving soon! Itwould be nice if the computer roomwas finished so we could set themup. Please hold this project up inprayer. Also, be praying for the ad

Funding the construction of a cabin may be a goodproject for a church, or for someoneto fund In memory of a loved one. Ifyou or your church might be interested in this, please contact us.

Agta progress: Just recently one ofthe tribal chieftains, a very strongand active Christian, died In hissleep. We rejoice in knowing he iswith the Lord, but his presence willbe missed by his family, In thechurch, and In his village. We arerejoicing that one more Agtabrother was born into Christ re

Jessie Is continuing his residency inManila. We don't see him often as

he Is very busy. We look forward tothe day he will be working in theChristian Hospital in Aparri.

We want to express our thanks to allof you who so faithfully support andpray for this ministry. Without yourprayers we could not meet the challenges that come in raising thesechildren, and In taking God's Wordto the lost. We have a very goodgroup of Christian workers with ushere, and we praise the Lord forthem. We are also grateful forChristian workers In other parts ofthe world who hold us up before theLord and support us financially.Thank you so much to each one ofyou.
