This S/S 2017 classic trench coat style shows use of brightly colored leather textiles mixed creatively with graphic patterns screen printed to cotton sateen. This reflects the trend of colorful and bold prints on clothing during times of social movements such as the 1970’s. Burberry’s current brand image influences the use of patent leather finishes, cuff belt trims, and oversized button findings in this style. ZELAN R3, an innovative waterproof finish, is also added to improve the durability and quality needs desired by the millennial target market.

This emerging Moto-Trench style mixes the rebellious “greaser” trend from the 50’s and the trend of colorful textiles of the 70’s, and was first seen on the runway when the current social movements began in 2013. These influences reflect the diverging cultural mood and can be seen with the use of loud colored suede and leather textiles paired together for the S/S 2017 Moto-Trench silhouette. Trims and findings such as zippers and oversized buttons are used for added edge, function, and quality. This coat is finished with a waterproof coating to remain consistent with quality standards and features the innovation of power felt to satisfy the target market’s need for convenience.

This trench rain coat style is influenced by a trend that began in 2013 when the current social movements sparked and can be traced as far back as the 1950’s. This S/S 2017 style incorporates the use of a clear polyurethane vinyl textile with a strategically placed silk cotton lining as well as belt buckles, snap findings, leather piping, and small embellishments. These textiles can also be printed to create a statement look consistent with the courageous cultural mood and target market values.
