er How to Get Beautiful

Skin for Spring and Summer

In the winter, people often don’t give their skin the same care and attention that they do during the spring and summer months. Warmer weather requires showing some skin. As soon as the weather breaks and the warm-er weather begins, you want to show off your beautiful skin by wearing little to no foundation as well as showing off great legs and feet. Here are the three most important things you need to do prepare your skin for its upcom-ing debut.

1. EXFOLIATE

Exfoliation is the skin’s natural pro-cess of shedding dead cells. By adding exfoliation to your skin care routine, you can assist this natural process at the surface and encourage newer, better-looking skin. Exfoliation keeps skin looking clean, healthy, more uniform in tone and less likely to break out. It improves all types of skin and all types of concerns. It is important to invest in a good exfo-liant one for your face and another for the rest of your body. The winter can leave skin dry, dull and sometimes even cracked and flaky. Exfoliate your face and your body two or three times a week to help create a smooth com-plexion.

There are many scrubs and body polishers available everywhere from your local drug stores and department stores to your local spas.

2. HYDRATEIt’s very important to drink lots of water leading up to and during warm-er months. The fluids help your skin detoxify from the inside out.

In addition to drinking water, there are several great products that will properly hydrate your skin. For your face, use a moisturizer that is an oil-free, anti-inflammatory moisturizer for use morning and evening to rehydrate the skin and help break the oil production cycle. You should use an effective light weight moisturizer works well under your sunscreen and make-up.

3. PROTECTSun protection is very important all year round, but especially in the warmer weather. After cleansing in the morning, apply a good sun-screen of at least SPF30, over your moisturizer.

There are several benefits to wearing sunscreen such as:

Protects skin against future sun damage

Prevent premature signs of aging, includ-ing fine lines and wrinkles

Help to maintain an even skin tone Everyone wants glowing skin especially in the spring and summer. Year round sunscreen helps to protect your skin allowing you to look great with or without make-up.

Remember the #1 thing that you can do enhance your overall look in any season is to have GREAT SKIN!

So, as a natural hair stylist and a natural hair advocate…. if I must add, I can honestly say I have heard and seen it all. I have experienced personally, how people tend to stare at my natural hair sisters and brothers. Whether it be a good stares that leads to most of the time to the annoying questioning, (Oh that’s beautiful!!, What prod-ucts do you use, or the worst one, can I touch it!?) and then we have those days when we get those bad stares and even more annoying yet slightly rude questioning… (What is that called?, why does it look that way, who did that?, and of course can I touch it!!) As if “that” is a prop-er term to describe your beautiful curly, wavy, coarse, and even straight beautiful natural hair!! Yes, I did say straight!! So, let’s start with the definition of Natural; which can be found the Miriam-Webster’s dictionary. The definition states: existing in nature and not made or caused by people: coming from nature: not having any extra substances or chemicals added: not containing anything artificial. Which, if I may add, some celebrities I have watched in the entertainment industry has truly made statements that it is ok to be the way you are. For example, Lady Gaga has branded this well, with one of her hit day view singles which is known nationwide, “BORN THIS WAY”. In research on the natural topic, that seems to be at hand now a days, I have dissected a little deeper, to see the real and true reasoning behind the textures of our hair. We are genetically made to adapt to our genial code, whether our roots are from the desserts of Africa, to the middle eastern mountains of Asia, to the plains of the European valleys, we are all created to be its each and own individual, and whether we choose to en-hance our natural beauty with, hair accents, as far as col-oring or even adding extensions we all are each unique in our own naturally special way. Now let’s touch on some of the natural trends that has swept the hair industry, providing some of the most influential styles thus far.

Let’s start with Locs, I myself have locs. Brother locs to be exact a relative of Sister locs. These type are small-er in diameter of regular locs, most commonly called Dreadlocks. As the year have gone by, I have truly seen this type of styling method in every culture that has a culture. They can be most commonly found in the West African cultures. However after research they have been rooted from all over the world. Originally rooted in North Africa dated back all the way from the 19th century, Locs has been seen in the West Asia region, throughout the Spartan era of Greece, they have rocked locs in West In-donesia , and even in the Pakistan culture. Which clearly states that locs are merely but a natural culture, a way living, a lifestyle, sometimes even can go so far to be a

fashion statement. Which if you ask me, from a creation that started so long ago, and can withstand many eras of hair movements and constant change. I could honestly say if I was natural “wink wink” Locs would probably be the road for me. They are so ever changing. You can cut them, you can color them, you can, crinkle them, you can braid them. They are just limitless! These are just a few of the great things I have found about the wonderful natural loc styling method.

Now another natural hair style that I have seen trending and I just absolutely lovely, is the ever so delicate and yet if pulled and grabbed a little harder can be very bold and becoming…Lets introduce the Lovely Braid, or also com-monly called the Plait. The first Braid or Plait has been dated back to 3000 BC just off the bank of the Nile River in Ancient Egypt. Just as the Loc culture these braids have been displayed all through Asia, South America, and hey what can I say I have never seen the Roman culture rock the best Crown braid/plait ever. It speak boldness, and greatness. I can say even though this method can be a more tedious and lengthy method love everything about the braiding method. There are so many differ-ent techniques that can be associated with the braiding technique which gives us many options and styling tactics which will always keep the braiders’ juices flowing.

Now the last but certainly not the least favorite of natu-ral hair styles is the all-natural of the all-natural, the one that gets the most common riff raff of them all. You know the one I’m talking about, come on…. think a little hard-er…. OK, OK, I’ll tell you, but to be honest, you already know what it is.. It’s the natural hair style in you, wheth-er it be a frizzy bed head Ted, or a curly Que Sue, or hey, maybe even a coily compressed Jess, whatever it may, be it’s you!!! We may fuss, we may fight, some may stare and some may glare, but just know, you are your natural hairstyle, express how ever, when ever, which ever way possible just make sure to keep it healthy! Jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche has earned quite the rep-utation—for evidence, look no further than her biggest fan, Rihanna. The LA resident (and mother of two) has stood by her luxe, bohemian aesthetic—think large col-orful stones, ear cuffs, delicate hand chains, and layered pendants—since launching her first collection three years ago, and now, this kind of adornment is seeing its mo-ment in reputably measured Manhattan. Further proof of the hippie-meets-punk movement: At the NYC preview of her latest collection (hosted by jewelry hotspot Love, Adorned), dozens of editors lined up to receive free piercings—many of them just adding to already heavily decorated ears. Where last year saw delicate ring stacks and tiny gold hoops as the trend du jour, now, it seems that trendsetters can’t stop piling—or piercing—it all on.

Related: Bold Gold Jewelry That Makes a Statement

Another hot-button topic (although perhaps less of a “trend,” per say): marijuana. Aiche has a collection of cannabis-inspired baubles (a particular Rihanna favorite). But while she’s clearly fearless in her design, she rec-ognizes that some concepts—no matter how “in” they might be—just aren’t for her. She talked to us about the gemstone that won’t be appearing in her collection any time soon, what it’s like to call RiRi a fan, and her newest addition to her line: cannabis leaf-embellished leather jackets. What first pushed you into designing jewelry?

I’ve been around fashion most of my life and was always intrigued by the creation process. At the time I started designing jewelry, there wasn’t much on the market that I found interesting. I wanted to create a different outlet for women to adorn themselves.

How does your Egyptian/American Indian background provide inspiration?

There is such a mixture in the collection. Sometimes, I feel like a belly dancer and other days, I can be inspired by natural raw American Turquoise and feathers. How have you seen your company grow since the begin-ning?

From a few ladies in my garage to a team of 10 now, we are still packing and shipping everything in-house. It’s re-ally important to maintain the family atmosphere around here. The Tribe I have behind me means everything.

Tell me about your newest pieces and the inspiration behind them. Any favorites in particular?

It’s been a really fun year. We have been playing around and enjoying all the energy coming our way. My latest creations are the Exotic leather jackets. Kind of like when the finger bracelets were born, they are making all the ladies so excited which inspires me even more!Delicate gold jewelry and cool piercings are having such a moment in the fashion world right now. What is the one piece of jewelry that you think is the ultimate It-girl staple?

The It-girl staple wardrobe consists of a finger bracelet, pinky ring, ear jacket and a statement ring that defines your individuality.I love working with the sweet leaf—it’s my tribute to growing up in California!

What trends do you see coming up next for jewelry and cool-girl fashion?

I do see a lot of pearls out there at the moment; I’m going to let everyone ride that wave while I tune in and create my new collection.

We’ve heard whisperings that belly button piercings are on their way back. What do you think?

Not for me. However, if someone wants a custom… hap-py to make one!

What about you—how many piercings do you have?

I have 5 piercings, which is considered light around the office.

What is your favorite stone to work with?

My all time favorite gem is Malachite/Chrysocolla. The mixture of the two colors uniting is just so beautiful. I can get lost in the colors and textures when they come to me in raw form.
