InformationCommon years are 1903-1930

Originally from province of Bengal, India, where single family homes where called bangla or bangala

Adapted by british colonists and then spread to Americas, and now has been modified by various states and regions.

Most Distinctive Traits

Every room in house centered around a middle livving space

Low pitched roof lines with long overhangs

Usually a porch area under the overhang

The style was originally used for small houses by Indians, but is now used for anything from small living space to extravagant resort.

Bungalow HousesTypical structure has 1-1.5 stories.

The building materials range from whatever they had in India to weave together and make thatched roof, to whats popular in the region like brick or wood

Texture- rough texture makes it feel cozy. d- makes it feel comfortable when everything is centered around the living space. Colors- usually inviting

The style was originally used in India but then it got spread around the world, now there are modified bungalow styles in different regions across the globe
