FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Bishop Checchio has asked us to pay close attention to the bills introduced in both N.J. Senate and the Assembly, together known as
the Reproductive Freedom Act. This act would keep abortion legal in New Jersey should the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe vs. Wade. Obviously, such legislation is contrary to our Catholic faith. I encourage all parishioners to go to the website of the New Jersey Catholic Conference (www.njcatholic.org/reproductive‐freedom‐act) and read up on this measure. The Diocesan Pro‐Life Office monitors this bill’s progress through both state legislature houses; however, we shouldn’t hesitate even now to write our local state senator and state assemblyman and make our objection to this bill known. We should write to: Senator Samuel D. Thompson 2501 Hwy 516, Suite 101 Old Bridge, NJ 08857 [email protected]
and Assemblyman Robert D. Clifton 935 Hwy 34, Suite 3B Matawan, NJ 07747 [email protected]
and
Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer 405 Route 539 Cream Ridge, NJ 08515 [email protected] Please express to both these gentlemen our opposition to the Reproductive Freedom Act and any effort to maintain or expand abortion rights in the State of New Jersey. By God’s grace, we can be a voice for the voiceless.
Blessings, Father Carina
HOPING TO MAKE A
DIFFERENCE One of our teenage parishioners, Victoria Forte, a student at Red Bank Catholic
High School, has been nominiated as one of the candidates for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign. This campaign runs until March 20, 2021 and the goal is to raise $20,000 to help eradicate blood cancer. Victoria and one other classmate are very excited about this fundraiser and are spreading the word in order to make a real difference. If you would like to make a donation to the LLS Student Campaign, their fundraising page is: https://event.lls.org/nj/snjsoy21/pforcure

FEBRUARY 14, 2021
6th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Brothers and sisters, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.’”
‐1 Corinthians 10:31 Do a quick check of your priorities. Where does God rank in that list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do. Putting God first in everything helps us put other “gods” (like our pride, ego, money and possessions) before God. Before making a decision, ask yourself, “Am I doing this for the glory of God or for the glory of me?”
