BULATS Test

Grafton College Islamabad is an approved centre for Cambridge ESOL exams. We currently offer General English, KET, and Professional English, BULATS, examinations. The examinations are easily accessible and we have a capacity to manage off-site testing, meaning that the exams can be conducted in cities other than Islamabad.

BULATS Online is now recognized for Tiers 1, 2 and 4 of the Points Based Immigration by the UK Border Agency for visa applications and for Partner Visas. In order to support an application for a UK visa, a BULATS certificate must be used and in addition, BULATS Test Report Forms for each of the four skills. BULATS Online Writing test: BULATS Online Writing is a computer-based test of written language skills for business. It is designed to test the written language of employees or students who need to use a foreign language in a wide range of business contexts. Format BULATS Online Writing is a computer-based test. Writing tasks are presented to the candidates via the computer screen. The BULATS Online Writing test lasts 45 minutes.

Description There are two parts to the Online Writing test. These are: · Part 1: candidates type a short email/letter/message of between 50 and 60 words in response to written input (e.g. an email/advert). Guidance on content and structure is provided. Part 1 is a compulsory task. · Part 2: candidates type a report or a letter of 180–200 words following instructions. There is a choice of tasks for Part 2. Part 1 contributes one third of the final mark and Part 2 two thirds of the final mark. There is an on-screen timer which shows candidates how much time is remaining.

BULATS Online Speaking test BULATS Online Speaking is a computer-based test of spoken language skills for business. It is designed to test the spoken language of employees or students who need to use a foreign language in a wide range of business contexts. Format BULATS Online Speaking is a computer-based test. Questions are presented to or heard by the candidate via the computer screen and the candidate’s responses are recorded and assessed later online by one or more examiners. The BULATS Online Speaking test normally lasts approximately 15 minutes. Description There are five parts to the Online Speaking test:

Part 1: Interview in which the candidate answers eight questions about themselves and their background/work/future plans Part 2: Reading Aloud, in which the candidate is required to read aloud eight sentences. Part 3: Presentation, in which the candidate is given a work-related topic (e.g. The Perfect Office) to talk about for one minute. The candidate is given prompts about the topic and 40 seconds in which to prepare. Part 4: Presentation with Graphic, in which the candidate is given one or more graphics (e.g. pie charts, line graphs) with a business focus (e.g. Company Exports) to talk about for one minute. The candidate also has one minute in which to prepare. Part 5: Communication Activity, in which the candidate gives their opinion on five questions related to one scenario (e.g. planning a Conference).

BULATS Online Reading and Listening test The BULATS Online Reading and Listening test is a computer-based assessment. It provides a fast, versatile and accurate method of testing language ability for the world of work. The BULATS Online Reading and Listening test allows on-demand assessment of all levels of language ability in English. Format: The BULATS Online Reading and Listening test last for approximately 60-90 minutes. It starts with the Reading Part and gradually moves to Listening section.
