• There is a great deal of optimism about the future of our schools and our community. There is also a great deal of pain and angst about the past. It is going to take some time.
• Schools need more support from the district office to achieve their improvement goals.
• We must work together--no matter what.
• Schools should be more than testing factories.
• Engaging students in authentic learning is critical.
What I learned...

• Do the right thing the right way.
• Use data to understand and make all decisions.
• Treat others as they would like to be treated.
• Always attempt to meet the needs of the individual.
• Think and do what is in the best interest of all students & schools--short & long term.
• Base difficult decisions on clear values and communicate those values constantly.

• From issuing grades To measuring proficiency

• From School as a Factory (100 year old model) To School as a place of thinking, leading, creativity, collaboration, and inspiration where learning (essential skills) in reading, writing, math must be demonstrated through Common Summative Assessments...
