It’s no secret that the construction industry took a big hit during the Great Recession in 2007–2009 that continued through 2014. Many construction professionals left the industry as jobs became scarce, and haven’t returned to the fi eld. With the economy on the rebound, the U.S. Bureau of labor statistics points to a big upswing in the demand for experienced constructors over the next decade. In fact, the numbers indicate a lack of professionals with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management to meet the expected growth. It is expected that 1,028 construction management positions will go unfi lled each year through 2024.
University of Louisiana-Monroe was the fi rst institution to be nationally accredited to teach construction management by the American Council for Construction Education, and continues its role as a leader to meet the rigorous demands of this critical industry.
