Bühler chain conveyors have proven their depend-
ability under the toughest conditions and in a diverse
range of applications. The same conveyors that are
used for coal fired power plants, waste incinera-
tion installations, and paper and cellulose, chemical,
metallurgical and glass industries are also utilized for
food grade applications.
The importance of the chain
The heart of all chain conveyors is the chain itself. Bühler
chain is composed of individual links which have any of five
available flight styles attached by welding. It is the strength
and durability of the link which largely determines conveyor
life.
The creation of Bühler chain
Bühler chain is made of forged steel with an internal core
hardness of 300-400 BHN, and a surface hardness of
500-600 BHN. This exceptional combination of internal
toughness and external hardness enables Bühler links to
withstand tensile shock from startups and overload, while
at the same time resisting abrasion and joint elongation.
The joint connections are machined and bored for precision
fit, providing fluid-smooth, nonshock flexing as the chain
travels over the drive sprocket and idler wheel.
To facilitate maintenance, our chain is designed so that links
may be removed from the string one-at-a-time for repair or
replacement.

accessory components are subjected to regular inspections
by our Quality Assurance Team. From raw materials to the
fully assembled chain, Bühler maintains the highest quality

Precision fitBores are precision-machined to a tolerance of ±.007”.
Surface hardnessTo create its excellent wear-resistance, the entire link, including its pin contact surface, is specially heat-treated to a surface hardness of 500-600 BHN.
Connecting pinThe connecting pins are heat-treated to a wear-resisting hardness of 500 BHN.

Accessories
For each chain type, suitable drive sprockets are available.
The profile of the sprocket wheel reduces wear and tear of
both the chain links and link pins. The split design of the
sprocket allows the teeth to be replaced without removing
the drive shaft. The symmetrical design of the hardened
tooth flanks doubles their useful life by allowing them to
be uilized on both sides. The drive sprockets are carefully
machined and flame hardened to 60 HRC.
