Objectives for today:

• Review progress in school and share the examples of practice that are developing.

• Consider using the standards file to support moderation and develop moderation approaches in your school

• Consider how APP tasks can be developed to support assessment judgements

Session one

Introduction and review progress


Reminder:Mid course task

• Before the next training (afternoon 5th May 2010) undergo some moderation of work within the department

• Bring along some examples of moderated work to the meeting and be prepared to talk about the process

Standards files


Mid course task - Feedback

• Work in table groups.

• Share the outcomes of the work you have done in school.

• Each table should agree 1 outcome to feedback to the rest of the group.


PMIQ

• In table groups discuss how the implementation of APP is happening in your department.

• Note Positives / Minuses / Interesting points and Questions (separately) on postit notes and place on posters around the room

Standardisation and moderation


Making moderation effective

• As a department how have you begun or plan to moderate work across the department?

• What are the key principles and process you have or will adopt to ensure effective moderation?

What are you trying to achieve? How will you achieve it?


Standardisation process

• Use the example of students work and the APP grid to make judgements of the students present level of working.

• Also consider what the student/teacher needs to do to move learning and skill acquisition forward.


Results

• Student one: Low level 5

• Student two: Secure level 5

• Student three: High level 6

• Student four: secure level 7

• Student five: High level 4


Moderation

• Now consider your own work samples.

• Moderate the work and consider the next stages in the learning process

• Be prepared to share your judgements
