BTE Hearing Aids – Style and Function Hearing aids can provide a great deal of relief and quality of life to those who suffer from hearing loss. There are several types of hearing aids. We’ll discuss a very common type called BTE hearing aids. BTE (or behind the ear) hearing aids were one of the earliest types of hearing aids. And they are still in common use today. BTE hearing aids consist of a molded case which contains the receiver, transducer and electronic which fits comfortably behind the ear. This housing is connected to a tube which is fed into the car canal and which transmits the amplified sound to the ear. The early forms of hearing aids featured this design since the electronics at that time were limited in the degree of size. This design featured a much more compact design than a separate device which was worn around the neck, etc. But at the same time it had sufficient space to handle the components necessary to provide good functionality. BTE designs are offered by most of the major hearing aids manufacturers. There is a great deal of sizes, colors and shapes offered through these types. Many of these designs are very comfortable and offer outstanding performance. This design type also typically offers the most cost effective prices as well. So they are well suited to many people who might otherwise be unable to afford the benefits of these products. A BTE design also tends to be well suited for more severe hearing loss since the additional space available in the housing can accommodate larger amplifiers and other components.
