The introduction of email has greatly improved the effectiveness of communication and management for many global companies, especially those in the oil and gas industries, whose bases are often far-flung.

As an open software platform, MMP is fully compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and GroupWise - and is available as an installed product or as a hosted service. It builds on BT’s years of experience as a provider of enterprise messaging solutions and services to organisations ranging from AT&T Wireless to the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The benefits

MMP simplifies operations by giving you one network-centric platform, managed through a single interface. Disrupting no part of your messaging ecosystem, it serves as a management layer over your existing email system, directory and messaging point products. You can install it behind your firewall, outsource it, or work with BT to develop a custom hybrid version just right for your organisation. Then you simply continue to use your current email, anti-spam, anti-virus and compliance software.

MMP effectively consolidates functional messaging operations and the contracting, integration, maintenance and support of those operations into a single point of contact.

MMP provides common management services across messaging components via a single interface. It lowers costs and ensures greater control. The functionality is available now for policy management and is extending to other services soon.

MMP is an open architecture that offers choice among an array of best-of-breed messaging point products - synchronising and tuning them to your specifications. It can integrate with virtually any functional email software and some default best-of-breed services have already been integrated, such as Brightmail for anti-spam protection and NAI (McAfee) against viruses.

MMP disrupts nothing. It protects your current investment and embraces your messaging solutions, legacy directories and databases already in place.

Accommodates future growth

MMP supports standard messaging APIs and LDAP, and is built to ensure customer messaging systems stay current without business disruption.

BT offers MMP in three deployment options, each of which can be customised to your specifications:

• The MMP in-house solution involves BT installing it� behind the corporate firewall, ensuring it is� functioning properly, then turning the keys of� ownership over to the organisation.

• The MMP fully-managed service is for organisations� that want to deploy it as a hosted solution. MMP is� installed at either a customer or a BT data centre -� and the solution is managed by BT based on� customer selection from an assortment of 24x7� global monitoring, management, support and help� desk options.

• The MMP hybrid service is for organisations that� want to install MMP behind their existing corporate� firewall and also want help managing all or part of� their messaging operations. Organisations can� select from an extensive range of 24x7 global� monitoring, management, support and help desk� services from BT.

All at your fingertips

MMP’s unique offering is built around the Common Management Interface (CMI), a web-based console that serves as a window into enterprise messaging operations. This tool enables administrators to enforce consistent system-wide policies and procedures across messaging operations through a single interface - even on a global level.

The ability to have common policy management across all tools can provide operational efficiencies and provide a flexible and consistent way to apply corporate messaging policies.

The use of CMI reduces IT administration, maintenance and support costs, whilst simplifying management tasks and lowering error rates. As well as providing delegated administration responsibilities, it presents a consistent ‘dashboard’ view of all messaging control.
