Applied Accounting Mentoring News: April 2016
Students Registering to
Submit
Mentors are required to tell all new
students that they must complete their
Registration on the Submission site as
early as possible when the Submission
period starts on 1st May 2016.
Student Registration is free , but it can
take 15-20 minutes for the password to
be generated.
Failure to do this early and waiting until
the time of actual project submission
(usually in the last hour of submission) is
a common cause of failure to submit.
Submission opens on 1 st
May 2016 and closes on 18 th
May 2016.
Please ask you students to submit early
and not in the last few hours.
Use of Turnitin
Mentors are reminded that Projects
MUST NOT be submitted to Turnitin.
This will result in our system
withholding results for further
investigation.
Whilst we understand the desire to
assist students as much as possible,
this is technically outside the Mentor
remit. We advise students to use
WriteCheck as a good tool, this is
based on Turnitin but does not lodge
the students work on the internet.
Students DO NOT “Register” Mentors :
We have had many emails from students worrying about “Registering their mentors”. Students DO NOT have to “Register” their mentor. They do have to tell us who their mentor is when they submit.

Online Mentoring and the Presentation:
How does this work?
The answer is simple. It is for you and
your mentee to work out how they are
going to do this.
Students may also need to write about
this process in their SLS Reflection –
this is the essential part of their third
meeting with you..
Whatever system is chosen, you and
your mentee must both be able to see
their PowerPoint slides and you must
hear them make the presentation .
NOTE:
If you are offering on-line Mentoring
you must have been using some form
of Video conferencing in your
mentoring already - this is obligatory.
