Summer will be arriving on June 20th. It is time to get out and enjoy the nice weather and sunshine.!!!

Did you know that Connecticut residents aged 65 and over can get a Free Pass for the Connecticut State Parks and Forests? It is called the Charter Oak Pass. To get your free pass simply make a copy of your Driver’s License and mail it to DEP, Charter Oak Pass, State Parks Division, 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT 06106.!!

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in our May Olympics. They were a huge success. Thanks for making it bigger and better than last year. Everyone who participated enjoyed a delicious ice cream social at the medal ceremony on May 31st. Thanks to Jason for organizing all of the events.!!!

With the summer months comes our popular hikes and bike rides. Hikes are scheduled for June 8th, July 6st, August 17th, and September 14th. Bike rides are scheduled for June 11th, August 20th, and September 10th. You must have your own bike. You must sign up in advance for the hikes and bikes. Sign�ups are taken in the main office.!!!

We will be holding our annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner on !Wednesday, June 6th from 4:00 � 6:00 p.m. at Nuchie’s. If you !volunteered at least 30 hours during 2017, you are eligible to attend. Stop by the main office to sign up and select your meal. I want to thank The Friends of the Bristol Senior for sponsoring this year’s dinner.!!!!

The Senior Center is offering a trip to Mohegan Sun to see the CT Sun women’s basketball team play the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday, June 9th. It will be a nice way to cheer on some of UCONN’s favorite players. The cost is $50 for the bus and game, or $30 for just the bus and an afternoon at the casino. You may sign up in the main office.!

!Hartford Hospital’s Mobile Mammography unit will be visiting the Bristol Senior Center on Thursday, June 14 from 9:00 AM � 1:45 PM. Eligibility includes women over 40 who haven’t had a mammogram in at least one year and one day. Most insurances will be accepted, and if a woman doesn’t have insurance, donated funds may be available to cover the cost of the mammogram. For your appointment, make sure to bring a Photo ID and your health insurance card, if applicable. Limited appointments are available. Walk�ins are welcomed on a first come first serve basis until capacity is reached. If you would like to sign up and pre�register to re-serve your spot, please call the Senior Center at 860�584�7895.!!

A special Father’s Day Dinner will be held on Friday, June 15th from 4:00 � 6:00 p.m. You will enjoy comic ventriloquist Larry Noiva from 4:00 � 5:00 p.m. with a delicious Chicken Cacciatore Dinner to follow. The cost is $5.00. Tickets are available in the main office.!!

I would like to thank the Friends of the Bristol Senior Center, the !Advocates for Bristol Seniors, and those who donated to the penny drive for purchasing a new stove for the Senior Center kitchen. The stove was much needed to help prepare the food for our very popular special events. !!!

Please help us out. We need all members to please swipe in each day when you visit the Senior Center. Computer swipe in stations are located at all three entrances. Our participation continues to grow every month. Your swipes make our records accurate. Thank you!!!!!

cooking classes for

the last several months.!

Vegetarian Cooking:!Rajee, a native of South India, has lived most of her adult life in the United States. Over the years, she developed a deep interest in promoting the use of spices, legumes, and Indian cooking techniques that would appeal to American audiences. She will share information about the health benefits of spices

turmeric, cumin, ginger, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, coconut power, different kinds of lentils, cardamom, curry powder, and other ingredients in her recipes including, legumes, beans, rice, and sprouts.!

Rajee Ramaswamy will be demonstrating how to cook "Mixed Vegetable Pakora" (fritters) with "Mango Lassi" (A smoothy made with mango pulp and yoghurt). There will be a taste testing at the end of the class and recipes will be shared.!As requirement to attend the Free demo, attendees are required to bring non�perishable item, which will be donated to the
