The BSA Foundation partners with local councils to bring the best major gift ideas and in- centives to Scouting's most generous and visionary donors. Through our disciplined and single-focused approach we develop high-impact and long-term relationships with BSA’s major donors. We aim to improve the fiscal health of our partner councils by raising transformational gifts, improving donor and customer experiences, and helping grow Scout- ing in their communities. The Boy Scouts of America’s major donors have responded to our partnership efforts by making transformational leadership gifts that are changing the fiscal realities of local coun- cils and supporting operational areas of the national organization! To meet growing demands from local councils, we’ve created a menu of premium services for councils that wish to partner with us. This flexible model allows individual or multiple councils to engage us at appropriate fee levels — but still allows us to serve councils with more limited needs or resources on a contingency basis. If you're looking to improve per- formance in the area of major gifts, consider the BSA Foundation. We may have a package of services that fits your needs. The BSA Foundation partners with local councils to bring the best major gift ideas and in-

centives to Scouting's most generous and visionary donors. Through our disciplined and

single-focused approach we develop high-impact and long-term relationships with BSA’s

major donors. We aim to improve the fiscal health of our partner councils by raising

transformational gifts, improving donor and customer experiences, and helping grow Scout-

ing in their communities.

The Boy Scouts of America’s major donors have responded to our partnership efforts by

making transformational leadership gifts that are changing the fiscal realities of local coun-

cils and supporting operational areas of the national organization!

To meet growing demands from local councils, we’ve created a menu of premium services

for councils that wish to partner with us. This flexible model allows individual or multiple

councils to engage us at appropriate fee levels — but still allows us to serve councils with

more limited needs or resources on a contingency basis. If you're looking to improve per-

formance in the area of major gifts, consider the BSA Foundation. We may have a package

of services that fits your needs.

MARKET-BASED SERVICES (Resident BSA Foundation Major Gifts Director)

$120-150,000

120-150

Qualified

Prospects

Full-Time

Market-based services usually include 2 to 5 councils. Portfolios and days of service are divided in accordance

with each council’s share of the total cost. The BSA Foundation hires and manages the employee and incurs all

direct and indirect expenses related to his/her service.

CONTINGENCY-BASED SERVICES

For councils desiring a more nominal quantity or frequency of service, the Foundation offers fundraising

services up to 5 days per year on a contingency basis (lesser of 5% or $25,000 on closed gifts excluding

Charitable Gift Annuity disclaimer statement) related to qualified major gift prospects.

BSA FOUNDATION MAJOR GIFT & FUNDRAISING SERVICES

The Foundation has re-designed its service model to enhance our effectiveness and customize our efforts to

local council needs:

Premium Services: These allow individual councils to contract for priority, exclusive, on-site gift-

consulting services for a set number of days or weeks.

Shared Services: Two or more local councils contract for these priority gift-consulting services and split

among them the cost for the services.

Market-Based Services: A dedicated major gift officer who lives and works in a major market and

provides priority gift-planning services to councils in that market. The Foundation splits the cost of this

dedicated major gift officer with the councils who agree to be part of the market-based partnerships.

Councils participating in our enhanced service models also receive priority invitations to BSA Foundation VIP

Donor events, and free or reduced registration costs for our major gift seminars.

“I highly recommend

working with the BSA

Foundation. They add a

dimension of expertise and

coordination that helps

engage major donors and

close gifts.”

Mike Butler, Scout Executive

Blue Ridge Council

“Our partnership with the

BSA Foundation has given the

council a stronger, more

comprehensive vision for

developing major gifts, and

I’ve personally increased my

support as a result! Working

with other councils in the

Chicago market has been a

unifying and exciting

experience.”

Michael LoPresti, Executive Board Member and

Council Treasurer, Northeast Illinois Council

“We’ve enjoyed supporting our council through

the flexibility of establishing a donor advised fund

with the BSA Foundation. Our relationship with

the Foundation is opening new horizons on how

we approach major giving and the Boy Scouts of

America.”

Tom & Libby Edwards, “Members with

Distinction”, BSA Second Century Society

“Our partnership with the BSA

Foundation has provided resources

and experience to a smaller

council, where we would not

otherwise be able to afford a full-

time person to focus on major

gifts. As a result of this partnership,

we are focused on building

relationships and financial security

for the future of the Sagamore

Council and the youth we serve.“

Chris Mehaffey, Scout Executive

Sagamore Council

“For the past two years I have

worked with the BSA Foundation

in a shared services agreement. It

was the best decision we made.

We are finally raising major gifts

for operating, capital and

endowment. Our board and staff

see the value of dedicated

professional staff to assist the

council on a part time basis with

the technical support of the

national council.”

Dennis Kohl, Scout Executive

Patriots' Path Council
