The Times Higher Education Supplement classification ranked the University of Bucharest among the first 600 in the world in the last three years. The classification, according to fields of interest, is as follows: Arts and Humanities 277; Social Sciences 330; Engineering and Information Technology (IT) 336; Life Sciences and Biomedicine 427; and Natural Sciences 447.

And the proof for the diligence of the teaching staff to maintain and even increase the quality of the teaching act is the recent mention in the Thomson ISI in Essential Science Indicators classification of the University of Bucharest the only one in the country, as well as in the previous classification with the best Romanian presence in ISI indexed scientific publications with authors from Romania, according to the number of most-quoted papers, our University thus ranks 641 in Chemistry (out of 858 most-quoted such departments in the world), 543 in Physics (out of 642 most-quoted such departments), and 720 in Engineering (out of 995 departments).

For all fields of study, the University of Bucharest ranks 1368 out of the 3759 universities listed. At the same time, two of our professors, in virtue of the great number of quotations for their scientific papers, have entered the top 7000 most-quoted chemistry specialists in the world. These are Prof. Dr. Marius Andruh and Prof. Dr. Vasile Prvulescu, both from the Faculty of Chemistry.

Over the last five years, the University of Bucharest occupied the 1st or 2nd place in the national classification regarding quality indicators in the field of scientific research. Furthermore, UB ranked among the first three places, as far as the value of research contracts obtained, within national competitions was concerned.

The University of Bucharest has a significant competitive capacity at a European level as well. The value of research contracts obtained within national competitions ranks UB among the first places in the national classification of universities.

Far from considering ourselves lacking in modesty, such presence on a prestigious ranking list is all the more obvious for the formation of future specialists since there are 18,074 universities worldwide.

    Continuing-Education (Life-long Learning) Programs

A program for educating adults rapidly developed. The University of Bucharest was one of the first universities in the country that highlighted the importance of lifelong learning programmes. An important part in the rapid development of continuing education (life-long learning) programmes is played by the CREDIS department, which offered methodology and infrastructure for the functioning of those programmes, or at least supported certain faculties during the first years when those programmes came into force. By means of its continuing-education (life-long learning) programmes, the University of Bucharest proves its capacity of adjustment to the dynamic requirements on the labor market, answering important social needs and ensuring increasingly bigger self-financing.

  • University of Bucharest

    8 www.unibuc.ro

Its intense international activity makes the University of Bucharest increasingly more notorious in Europe and worldwide. The number of ERASMUS students who come to learn with us is close to 100 per year, and many choose to remain a second semester as well, because the learning environment seems favorable to them. The number of students coming from African and Asian countries has also risen. The University has programmes in foreign languages that are offered on a yearly basis to the 1000 foreign students. The ERASMUS programme is a component of the Community Education Programme (Lifelong Learning Programme LLP), which sets out to help university mobility both for undergraduate students / master students / doctoral students as well as teaching staff. Another ERASMUS objective is encouraging the cooperation between universities in Europe in the field of higher education. The development of the European dimension of graduate and post-graduate studies is supported through ERASMUS, since the programme covers all disciplines and study areas within the University of Bucharest. The purpose of the ERASMUS programme is to facilitate the creation of European unity and identity by means of study travel from one country to another. It is not a physics or theology programme. The European Union wishes to lay the human foundations of a European identity through a means that are, at the same time, simple and inevitable: travel. Travel favors direct contact between people and cultures. They remove clichs learned through life experiences. They replace memories from books as well as personal memories. They reward you with friends. They offer you the opportunity of speaking another language, of tasting unknown dishes, of seeing new landscapes, of observing how the trade you train for is learned in another country, with a different history, with other customs, with a different social structure. This is valuable in itself, and does not need other excuses or explanations.Within this programme there are 286 agreements with European universities that offer opportunities for both students and professors to carry out study terms, teaching terms, take part in common projects to be implemented in curricula, intensive courses or activities in thematic networks dedicated to the development of a graduate domain. The mobility offered within this programme is coordinated by the ERASMUS Office for Community Programs within UB.

The entire structure of the curricula has been made compatible with the Bologna process. This restructuring has involved a considerable effort of readjustment on the part of all of the Universitys faculties. The University of Bucharest currently offers thirty-eight graduate domains with approximately 100 majors in all three forms of education: day courses, minimal attendance, and distance learning. The educational offer at the level of masters studies is extremely diversified, the current offer amounting to 180 programmes. This has allowed for the continuous increase in requests for masters programmes, from graduates of other faculties, as well as requests for professional re-conversion. The University of Bucharest has the necessary human resources for developing masters programmes at an adequate level of quality. The system of doctoral schools has been generalized in all faculties, ensuring a much more consistent training of the PhD students. The doctoral schools are currently financed by structural funds within three-year projects.

Chemistry was included in the University of Bucharest in the first curriculum, approved as a consequence of the establishment decree of the university, signed in 1864 by Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza.

Upon its establishment, in the autumn of 1864, the Faculty of Sciences, at the University of Bucharest, functioned with six professors: Alexandru Orscu, Dumitru Petrescu, Emanoil Bacalogu, Carlo Ferrari, Alexe Marin, and Grigore tefnescu (teaching in the two departments: Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Department of Physical and Natural Sciences). Dr. Constantin Istrati PhD in Chemistry in Paris, member of the Chemistry Society of France and Germany, chairman of the Romanian Academy in 1899, was a physician, chemist and university professor. He befriended young people, was a great animator of scientific life in our country, and the one who laid the foundation for higher education in chemistry in Bucharest. From 1903, Dr. Constantin Istrati was a secretary and a guide for the Romanian Society of Sciences for twenty-five years. The successors of Dr. Constantin Istrati at the Organic Chemistry Department of the Faculty of SciencesProfessors tefan Minovici and Eugen Angelescumade younger generations aware of his work. The Romanian Chemical Society was founded in 1919 by Professor tefan Minovici.

There is a 145-year standing tradition at the University of Bucharest, as far as higher-education in the domain of chemistry is concerned. Devoted and enthusiastic professors have contributed to the development and progress of chemistry, within this institution, both nationally and internationally: Alexe Marin, Constantin Istrati, Gheorghe Longinescu, tefan Minovici, Gheorghe Spacu, Eugen Angelescu, Ilie Murgulescu, I.V. Nicolescu, Grigore Popa, Maria Brezeanu, George-Emil Baiulescu, and many others.

    - In 1906, chemistry was studied at the University of Bucharestat the Institute of Chemistrywith the following specializations: industrial chemistry, food chemistry, and agricultural chemistry.- The Institute of Technological Chemistry was founded in 1914, and, in 1938, the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry was derived from it, subsequently being transferred to the School of Roads and Bridges (this one becoming the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute, nowadays referred to as the Polytechnic University of Bucharest).- An important part in the dynamics of scientific and cultural life after the First World War (1914-1918) was played by the Association of University Professors, founded in 1923. The Chemistry discipline consisted of: inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry.- In 1925, the University of Bucharest laid the foundation for the Institute for Theoretical Chemistry, located on 87-89 Splaiul Independenei, near the Hadeu Bridge.- In 1948, it becomes the headquarters of the Faculty of Chemistry founded as a consequence of the education reform, as an independent faculty by breaking away from the Faculty of Sciences. In 1998, the Faculty of Chemistry celebrated fifty years of existence.

    - On March 4th, 1977, the headquarters building for the Faculty of Chemistry, located on Splaiul Independenei, is destroyed in an earthquake. The teaching staff, students, and structure are assimilated as a department of the Faculty of Technological Chemistry of the Polytechnics Institute in Bucharest. Two departments functioned during this period, Chemistry and Physics-Chemistry, with the duration of undergraduate studies lasting four years. The first fifteen students, ranked among 100 students of the Chemistry Department, could pursue one year of specialized studies.- In 1990, the Chemistry Department once again becomes the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Bucharest, with its headquarters located in Block D of the Universitys downtown building; the laboratories for the Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Technological Chemistry and Catalysis Departments were established in the old building located at 90, oseaua Panduri. For the reconstruction of the Faculty of Chemistry, in 1990, an association was constituted with Ilie G. Murgulescu (Academy member and former-Minister of Education) as Honorary Chairman and Mihai Gheorghiu (the - General Manager of the medicine plant in Bucharest) as acting-President.

Between 1992 and 1995, improvements were made regarding the teaching conditions in the lecture halls and amphitheatres of the building located on oseaua Panduri, where the laboratories for Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry Departments were established. A wing for Inorganic Chemistry was also established, while the Technological Chemistry and Catalysis Department was relocated to the building on 23, Dumbrava Roie Street. The laboratories of the Physical Chemistry and Physics Departments were established in the Universitys downtown building (Block D). In 1992, the Department for Applied Mathematics and Programming was founded, and two computer science laboratories were established (one located on the fourth floor of the main building; and the other located in the building on oseaua Panduri). A process of upgrading curricula for all specializations was also started. Since 1990, the curricula have introduced a compulsory course in Computer Science for all specializations. In 1993, within the chemistry specialization, a group with classes taught in French was founded; another, with classes taught in English, was founded in 1999.Following the process of academic development and integration of education in all European academic directions, the first master programmeswith day courses and one-year durationstarted in 1993.

The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest faculties at the University of Bucharest, with a rich tradition in education of Romanian law.In 1832, as a consequence of Petrache Poenarus school reform, higher legal and scientific courses were created at the St. Sava National College. On October 17, 1850, the Faculty of Law was founded, within the study group at the St. Sava National College, the first promotion of law makers being recorded in 1854. On November 25, 1859, by royal decree, the Faculty of Law becomes an independent institution, its first Dean being Constantin Boianu. On July 4-16, 1864, by Decree No. 765, Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza approves the founding of the University of Bucharest, by reuniting the three existing faculties: the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Sciences, and the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. In its beginnings, the Faculty of Law had nine departments, nine professors, and thirty students. On August 13, 1866, the courses taught at the Faculty were: Roman Law, Civil Law and Civil Law Procedures, Criminal Law and Criminal Law Procedures, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Political Economy. The studies lasted four years. In 1908, the first doctoral title in law was awarded. Between 1921 and 1923, according to the statistics of the times, 43.1% of the students in Greater Romania were students of the Faculty of Law; the statistics included students from every university in Romania. For the training of such a great number of students, the Faculty of Law in Bucharest pursued the creation of a special infrastructure. Between 1943 and 1936, with the help of funds gathered by the initiative of the dean, Nicolae Basilescu, and with the subsidies from King Carol II and the Minister of Education, the curent head-

quarters of the facultythe Palace of the Faculty of Lawwas built, following the plans of the great architect, Petre Antonescu. This would not have been possible without the persistence of teachers, graduates, and students of the faculty a remark that is also found on the frontispiece of the Aula inside the building.Since 1962, the Faculty of Law has organized post-graduate courses, with a view to improve law-makers in the state, administration, and economic sectorscourses that are organized on different basis nowadays. In 1975, following the spirit specific to that periodof unifying the teaching activity of higher-education with that of scientific researchthe dean of the Faculty of Law took charge of the Institute for Legal Research of the Romanian Academy (founded in 1954), coordination that was maintained until the beginning of 1990.Between 1968 and 1989, within the Faculty of Law, there functioned two departments: Law and Economic-Administrative Law, with an approximate number of 120 students for the first department and thirty students for the second one, in day courses.Since 1990, the Faculty of Law has enhanced the prestige it enjoys. The number of students has increased considerably, and the courses are organized within a unique profile: Legal Sciences, with one main specialization: Law; with four years of day courses or five years of minimum attendance courses. Starting with the 2004-2005 academic year, long-distance learning courses have been organized, thus giving up the need for minimal-attendance courses.

The importance attached to the study of philosophy in this faculty is proven by the provisions of the Regulations of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters promulgated on February 20th 1899. According to the Regulations, the Faculty has the right to grant graduation degrees in philosophy as well as PhDs. Philosophy has been taught at the University of Bucharest, even during the last years of the communist regime. Among the first rectors of the University of Bucharest, we can mention: Ioan Zalomit (May 1871 April 1885), professor of History of Philosophy; Titu Maiorescu (October 1892 November 1897), professor of Philosophy; and C. Dimitrescu-Iai (October 1898 January 1911), professor of Philosophy, and author of the first doctoral thesis on aesthetics (The Concept of Beauty Leipzig 1877).In 1948, following the communist reform of education, the framework within which the Faculty of Philosophy functioned was changed. In spite of huge difficulties, repeated attempts to dissolve or integrate it into the partys education system, during this period, the faculty managed to maintain the study of philosophy as an independent discipline, distinct from ideology, highly-professional, and the scientifically adequate training of the students.

After 1989, the faculty underwent a deep restructuring: the teaching staff was almost completely renewed; the curricula were changed, ensuring great flexibility of the study programmes. Thus, the students have the opportunity to choose from a large number of subjects. Our teachers and students are present in great universities abroad or receive visits from representatives of such prestigious institutions; they are hired by important research programmes, offering solutions and skills for the process of educational, political, economic and social reform in Romania. The collaborations with European and American universities Oxford, Paris (Nanterre), Lyon, Amsterdam, Bochum, Dijon, with the Catholic University of Brussels, or with the University of Tulsa, USA, with which our faculty has constantly developed a fruitful exchange of teaching staff are the proof of quality education, of reaching European and international standards.

The discipline of Physics has been taught at the University of Bucharest ever since its beginnings in 1864. At first, there was the Faculty of Science, then, in 1948, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Since 1967, the Faculty of Physics has been functioning within the University of Bucharest. The year 1962 is the moment when the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics divided into the Faculty of Mathematics-Mechanics and the Faculty of Physics. In 1974, the latter moved to the new campus in Mgurele, near the Central Institute for Physics, thus making up the National Physics Platform. Thus, student training opportunities are enhanced by direct involvement in research programs, and by the availability of documentation offered by the two largest Physics libraries in the country: that of the Atomic Physics Institute and of the Faculty of Physics. The entire teaching activity of training-specialization and scientific research is carried out within the six departments of the faculty that benefit from an extremely valuable academic body both at a teaching level as well as a scientific one involved, together with many undergraduate, master, and PhD students in prestigious international research programs.

By establishing the University of Bucharest at first and later the Romanian Academy (1866) and the Romanian Royal Society for Geography (1875), the institutional foundations for geography research and higher-education were laid in our country. Therefore, the idea of setting up a Geography Department at the University of Bucharest the first of this type in the country has been the main topic of discussion within the Royal Society of Geography ever since 1898, and it materialized on March 18th, 1899.A law enacted on November 4th, 1938 included two geography departments within the Faculty of Sciences, and changed their names into the Department for Physical Geography of Romania and the Department of General and Human Geography. The Education Reform in 1948 led to the creation of new structures, geography having been associated with history until 1950, when it separated from the latter and became a section of the Faculty of Geology and Geography at the University of Bucharest. In 1986, by associating with the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Biology, Geography and Geology was born.In 1990, at the end of an evolution that was not always smooth, geography registered a dramatic leap forward by setting up the Faculty of Geography, with an autonomous status, conceived to ensure diversity, updating and expanding on multiple levels of training and research activity in the field of geography. The College for the Geography of Tourist Activities from Climneti was added in 1998, and in 1999 the distance learning programme began.

An important factor in the European system of student training and in organizing the program for environmental protection of the Danube canyon and the southern part of the Banat Mountains, is played by the Geographic Station at Orova. The faculty collaborates in research and teaching with faculties from France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and Italy.

The studies in the field of History at the University of Bucharest date back to the creation of this higher-education institution, by means of the decree of 1864 issued by Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza. The first courses, organized at the Faculty of Letters, Law, and Philosophy, referred to the study of antiquity and of the archaeological heritage. The topics have changed in the course of time, and historical sciences had been represented by major personalities of the Romanian culture at the University of Bucharest for more than a century. After 1990, the graduate and the master programmes of the faculty have been diversified. Within the traditional History Department, there have been added courses like History of Art, International Relations and European Studies. The master programmes have continuously developed, and, in 2008, nine other programmes were authorized in the Bologna system. At the moment, the Faculty of History includes the largest number of courses which it has proposed all along its existence. Certain courses are unique to the Romanian academic environment: from the Greek-Roman, Oriental and Egyptian antiquity to the History of Communism; from Byzantine and Archaeological studies to the History of the Modern World and of Euro-Atlantic accession. History is approached from various perspectives: political, anthropological, military as well as history of religions, mentalities, imaginary, economic history, intellectual and diplomatic.

The 146-year history of the University of Bucharest is an ever-ascending history in the teaching of foreign languages and literatures. Naturally, the first two languages taught were Latin and Old Greek, which were taught since the very foundation of the University in 1864. Ten years later, in 1874, through the great B.P. Hadeu, who started his lectures on Comparative Indo-European Philology, the University enters the circuit of great and European values. So far, the last half-century has marked the greatest development of foreign language education at the University of Bucharest. Undergoing various organizational changes, the study of foreign languages has become of major importance within the University. An inventory of all languages taught here, at different times and levels rounds up their number to an impressive forty-four languages. Nowadays, there are thirty-seven languages taughtamong which Modern Greek, Turkish, Catalan, Romany, Slovenian, Croat, Bulgarian, Korean, and Swedishthat are not available in the study portfolio of other faculties. The graduates of the faculty answer, through their training, a large range of job offers from various fields, such as education, research, culture, mass media, editorial activities, and international relations. The creation of the Modern Applied Languages and Translators-Interpreters departments is also significant.

The faculty was established on November 2nd 1863. At first, it was named the Higher School of Letters. A year later, when the University of Bucharest was founded, it becomes part of the new academic structure, under the title Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, kept until the 1947 reform. During the 1864-1865 academic year, there were only twenty-two students enrolled in six courses; in 1878, there were already nine departments; and at its peak, during the 1937-1938 academic year, fifty professors, from thirty-one departments, were delivering courses for 3,035 students.During the period between the two World Wars, the Faculty of Letters, at the University of Bucharest, had a teaching body of great value, school creators in the domain of philology, who distinguished themselves through the effort of developing scientific research. The cultural potential of the faculty was also supported by an intense publishing activity, at the head of institutions as directors, professors within the faculty. Among these, King Carol II Foundation for Literature and Art, led by Alexandru Rosetti, editor of the Magazine of the Royal Foundations can be mentioned. The international prestige of the faculty was gained by editing and publishing scientific papers of the professors and the development of a training centre for philologists. After 1990, the Faculty of Letters recovered the traditional components the communist regime had dissolved and, at the same time, it continued its modernization process, through a dialogue with society and reintegrating itself in the European academic environment. Combining the classic rigor with the dynamism and flexibility of the contemporary world, the Faculty of Letters is nowadays a complex higher-education structure in Romania.

More than 100 years have past since Prof. C. Rdulescu-Motru pupil and disciple of W. Wund, the one who set up the first laboratory of experimental psychology in Europe founded the laboratory of experimental psychology at the University of Bucharest (in 1906), which, since then, has had both a scientific and a didactic function. Under the influence of researchers in experimental psychology, studies in experimental pedagogy were immediately developed. The first courses in psychology and pedagogyincluding those of an experimental naturewere taught at our university towards the end of the 19th century. From the very beginning, a long-lasting cooperation has been established between these two scientific and professional fields. Education and research in both psychology and pedagogy have grounded this academic communion that has existed for over 100 years. As an institution, the old pedagogic seminar of the University underwent a series of transformations after 1948, thus becoming an independent faculty.Over the years, these academic domains have been marked by complex, nonlinear crises, growth and development, but also by dramatic and unfair changes that have hindered its natural development. For instance: in 1977, by an arbitrary decision of the former political regime, our specializations, together with Sociology, were considered to be subversive, undesirable and, as such, they were eliminated from the structure of higher-education. For 12 years, Romanian society, from that regimes strange point of view, did not need the services provided by specialists in the fields of psychology and education sciences. The founding of the Faculties of Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogy, and Social Care in 1990 meant reinstating a type of traditional education with brilliant representatives in the fields of social sciences, Psychology and Pedagogy. That particular year also led to the validation of the legitimacy and importance these fields have for our national culture and science, and their relevance for our social growth. In 2000, the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences was separated from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Care. This can be considered the modern rebirth of our institution, marked by the gaining of its true identity. The faculty has a strong institutional structure comprising of seven departments (two of them functioning with our subsidiaries in the country). It offers short and long-term training programs in four professional areas. In addition to this it provides the certifications one needs in order to become a teacher. It also carries out seven master programs and it has developed its own doctoral school.

We have a considerable and valuable potential, both technical and human. Out of the total teaching staff, over 80% have a PhD in science, and 14 professors are PhD supervisors. The building has laboratories with suitable technical equipment (Experimental Psychology, Computer Science, Psycho-diagnostics, Psychology of Transportation, Educational Management, Career Counseling, Laboratory for accessing new and improved software, Display Reading and Voice Synthesizers), research laboratories, development and consultancy centers, under Aegis, or with help from the departments. We also publish three specialized magazines. The services provided by our teaching staff have helped around 7,000 of the Universitys students to attend the psychological-pedagogical module in order for them to obtain the certificate for teaching, hundreds of participants being enrolled on post-graduate or professional re-conversion courses. The scientific research made within the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences is meritorious; it increasingly tends to be integrated into the international circuit. The faculty has extended its network of international relations with similar institutions from other countries.

If, in 1906, sociology was among the subjects taught at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, in 1910 it is organized under the form of an independent specialization within the University of Bucharest. The period between the two World Wars is also the period of its classicization within the Sociological School of Bucharest, founded by the eminent professor, Dimitrie Gusti. Sociological education was abolished in 1947, re-established in 1966 and then again disbanded in 1978.Between 1929 and 1952, education in the field of social care functioned as a university profile within the Princess Ileana Higher School of Social Care, under the leadership of sociologist, Henri H. Stahl. Between 1952 and 1969, the 4-year Higher School of Social Care was reduced to 3 years and, in 1969, teaching social care was completely abolished, since it was considered that social issues can be solved through administrative-bureaucratic and political mechanisms based on the ideology of the communist system. After 1989, we witness the revitalization of teaching Sociology and Social Care. Our faculty currently trains specialists in social sciences among its three specializations: Sociology, Anthropology and Social Care. The Anthropology specialization was founded this year, within the Sociology domain of study.

The faculty offers undergraduate, master, and post-graduate programmes. Founded in 1991, its main objective is to take part in the constitution of Romanian political science as an autonomous study and research field. In the first four years, the teaching language was exclusively French, as the faculty was organized following the French model of an Institute for Political Studies, supported by a consortium of universities, such as the Universit Rennes 2, through the Centre de Droit Europen (CEDRE), the Institut dEtudes Politiques of Rennes, and the Universit Libre de Bruxelles, and financed by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).Starting with the 1995-1996 academic year, political sciences have been taught in Romanian as well as in English. Since 1995, the faculty has organized master studies for the following specializations: International Relations and European Studies, European and Romanian Politics, and Comparative Politics. The faculty has a computer lab which includes around 30 workstations connected to the Internet. The students can send all administrative requests online by A.D.M.A. (the Atlas Data Mining Application - the management system of the university). Since it is integrated within the network of the Central University Library, the students have access to the latest specialized literature in the field, mostly in French and English. The Francophone Centre of AUF is also in the library of the faculty.

Following the union of the Principalities, there was a need for the foundation of a Faculty of Orthodox Theology. The repeated attempts of certain hierarchs, and of the General Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, finally led to the inauguration of this faculty at the University of Bucharest on November 12th 1881.On August 4th 1948, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Bucharest turned into a Theological Institute for University Degree, and the teaching staff, as well as the administrative one, together with the respective budget provisions, passed from the Ministry of Public Education to the Ministry of Cults.Starting with the 1991-1992 academic year, the Institute was again part of the University having the statute of faculty and, initially, two specializations: Theology Letters and Theology Social Care. Since 1995, two more specializations were founded: Theology Cultural Heritage and Theology Classical Languages: Greek and Latin. In 1996, another specialization was authorized: the Theology Church Painting. The faculty currently offers four specializations: Pastoral Orthodox Theology, Didactic Orthodox Theology, Social Theology, and Sacred Art-with a three-year term under-graduate studies, a two-year term master programs, and a three-year term doctoral studies. The Pastoral Orthodox Theology specialization continues to have a four-year term studies. The students attending the Didactic Theology specialization can acquire skills in teaching Romanian language and literature, English and French, only if - during the six semesters - they obtain 60 credits per semester, by attending courses at the respective faculties at the University of Bucharest.
