Garments speak about ourselves. But not about the child labor and the poor remuneraon of those working in industry, about the amount of texle waste that we generate each year, about the millions of tons of water, inseccides and herbicides necessary for the culvaon of raw materials.

Seven organizaons from all over Europe “knit their way” towards improving the living of the fashion industry workers and reducing the impact on the Planet!

Over 40 European designers have joined the race to dress up people without “stripping down” other Human Beings or the Nature! Here we are aer two years of exploraon!

Organic coon, flax, hemp, silk, recovered garments, accessories from waste and many other alternave materials represent our combat instruments for a more Ethic and environmental fashion industry that nevertheless connues to be Chic.

The “Chic & Ethic” project has been iniated in September 2009 by the Reper 21 Network, in partnership with Fair Trade Hellas (Greece), Training 2000 (Italy), Kaunas Vocaonal Training Centre for Service Business Specialists (Lithuania), The College of Enterprise and Administraon in Lublin (Poland), The Adult Educaon Centre’s Directorate of Buca District (Turkey) and Pacificstream (UK).The project is being financed through the Grundtvig Program of the European Commission.

Chic & Ethic Greece – For ACT-CREATE-REUSE!The group of people of the Greek team consists of fashion lovers and professional clothes designers. Our garments are either re-used or up-cycled. The collecon’s main theme is climate change. The umbrella has been used as a symbol to suggest we should all re-use and adopt sustainable consuming methods. The up-cycled materials that we have mostly ulized are plasc bags, broken umbrellas, old and second hand clothes, used shoes and other handmade accessories.

Chic & Ethic Lithuania – For FLAX!In Lithuania flax has been produced for 4000 years. The old tradion and the sustainability of the material determined the Lithuanian designers to choose ecological flax fabric for their collecon. The challenge? How to get different mood clothes by decorang same construcon flax dresses. For decoraon we used flax fabric cungs processed by Chenille technique and old plasc bags reclaimed for producing shoes. The main colors of our collecon are natural grizzly flax shadings.

The Chic & Ethic project is a great chance for our students to become closer to sustainable texle sector and going green in their day-by-day life.

Chic & Ethic Poland – For LINEN, RETRO & FOLK!Our Polish team consists of both profesionals and passionate amateurs, who perceive sewing as hobby as well as their creave profession. The collecon is made of recycled items and also brand new natural linen fabrics, with a hint of folk and retro style. Using linen in most of our designs we would like to underline a typical Polish character of our works.

Chic & Ethic Romania – For NATURAL SILK!Natural handmade silk is produced in Romania only by a handful of movated people. We have found one of them – Ms.Niculescu – who is culvang, weaving and colouring silk in her backyard nearby Bucharest. Ms.Niculescu inspired the Romanian designers to create a trans-seasonal, natural silk collecon endowed with accessories made from natural elements and with silk and waste garments shoes.
