THE BRONXVILLE ADULT SCHOOL, INC.a non-profit educational institution chartered by the New York State Board of Regents

A LETTER FROM OUR CO-CHAIRS

Dear Friends, We hope you are faring well in the winter weather and that you’ll get a hint of longer days andmilder weather by taking a few moments to page through our Spring 2015 Catalog. “Variety’s the very spice of life/That gives it all its flavour.” [William Cowper, British poet]. And we at the Bronxville Adult School strive each and every semester to augment our recurring favorites with new offerings that we hope will pique your interest. This spring, some of these are multi-session classes, such as Circuit Training, Calligraphy for Special Occasions, Musical Forms and Innovations of theGreatest Composers and Mah Jongg for Beginners. However, we know that schedules are crowded with work and family responsibilities, so we would alsolike to highlight a number of new, single-session offerings for the spring semester that would certainly warrant a well-deserved “night off”: Paris from La Vie Moderne to La Belle Epoque, Deconstructing CraftBeer, The Proper Care and Feeding of Your House Plants, Psychic Reading and Protecting YourComputer from Viruses, Malware & Other Nasty Stuff, among others. If you’re lucky enough to take a full day off, there’s no better way to spend it than our day trip to Long Island’s Gold Coast Mansions. If you have a friend who has never attended an Adult School class, please consider inviting him or her to join you. In a new initiative, the Adult School is also including two offerings scheduled on weekends duringthe day: The Great American Song Book: An Annotated Concert Series (three Sundays at 4 pm) andMemoir Writing (one Saturday at 10 am). For those for whom weekday classes and lectures are not feasible or convenient, we hope you’ll take advantage of this expanded schedule. Apart from these new offerings, of course, we have literally dozens of other classes scheduled inareas ranging from Acrylics to Zumba. The Table of Contents will give you the quickest overview, withdetailed class descriptions to follow. All of the material in this catalog can be found on our website,www.bronxvilleadultschool.org, as well as the opportunity to register for class. The Bronxville Adult School has long been independent of the Bronxville School District – we areself-supporting and receive no tax dollars. We rely on course fees and donations to fulfill our mission ofproviding life-long learning at affordable prices. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution tohelp us continue our many years of community service, please go to our website and click on “Donate”. Thank you and we hope to see you in school!
