2015
STUDENTS APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES
Use this checklist to help keep you organized. Pull up the scholarship book on the Brockton Public
Schools Website, www.brocktonpublicschools.com; click Our Schools, then Brockton High School
and then Guidance.
Read each scholarship, paying close attention to the eligibility requirements.
Make a list of what applications you are eligible for, how many transcripts you will need, and
if you will need a financial statement and/or a personal essay.
Scholarships #1-28 only need ONE APPLICATION and can be applied for ONLINE
Check the box on which scholarships of the first 28 that you are interested in. Then fill out the
form online and send it. You will receive a confirmation that the Guidance Department has
received it. You must also write a one-page essay on why you should be considered for a
scholarship and submit a Parent Financial Statement Form to your Guidance Office no later
than April 15, 2015. Recipients of these scholarships are selected by the Brockton High School
Scholarship Committee consisting of teachers, counselors, and administrators. A rubric is used
to determine eligibility. Students who have completed the FAFSA and have submitted
applications and made a decision about their postsecondary plans will be given the highest
consideration.
Scholarships pages #29-102 are private scholarships and you must print the application, fill
it in and mail it back to the address listed on the corresponding page. You are responsible for
mailing and postage. Recipients of private scholarships are selected by their own scholarship
committee using their own selection criteria. These scholarship winners are NOT chosen by the
Brockton High School Scholarship Committee.
Special Applications pages # 103-124 o The Special Applications are located at the end of the book from pages #106-130.
o You must turn in a list of which special applications you will need and how many

Fill out each scholarship application as neatly and thoroughly as possible. Most of the
applications and financial aid forms are found on the website.
o Note the deadlines for each. Most are due by April 15th
, but not all. Pay attention!
