Welcome to Reutlingen University!

This was a fi rst, big step forward: By choosing to study with us, you have made an excellent choice, if I may say so. You are in very good company: 5,300 students from all over theworld are currently studying at Reutlingen University, one of Germany’s leading academic institutions for international and practically-oriented higher education.You will encounter many new things in the weeks and months ahead. To facilitate your start at Reutlingen University, we have put together this brochure packed with useful information.

Your IB orientation days will start on March 02nd. The daily programme featureswelcome events, presentations, joint lunches, campus tours and opportunities to meet fellow students from higher semesters. Please fi nd more details on page 6 .

Complete your enrolment: You have received your admission letter? Great! Please make sure to submit your enrolment form together with all required documents. www.reutlingen-university.de/enrolment

Pay the administration fee: Check your admission letter for bank details and more information. If applicable, pay the tuition fee of 1,500 EUR. Check your fee letter issued by the university's admissions office.

Get your student ID (Campus CaRT): You will receive your student ID by mail (or from your programme coordinators) once you have submitted all required enrol-ment documents and have paid the administrative fee.

Activate your university account: You will also receive your activation sheet by mail (or from your programme coordinators).

Print out your enrolment confirmation: You will need this confirmation for your student dorm application, health insurance, BAFoeG application or semester ticket. Once you are enroled you can access and download your enrolment confirmation on HIP (online university information portal). www.hip.reutlingen-university.de

Apply for BAfoeG or scholarships: There are several options for financial support. www.reutlingen-university.de/finances

Buy your semester ticket: For 104.90 EUR per semester, students can use busses and trains in the NALDO area. www.naldo.de

Know your semester dates: Check important key dates for the upcoming semester on page 8

2 Ask, ask, ask! Having a lot of questions at the beginning of your studies is verynormal. Don’t hesitate to ask whenever you have a question. Your programmecoordinators, classmates, lecturers or study advisory service staff – they are all there for you during your time at Reutlingen University (see page 12).

3 Get involved! There are many student groups which you are welcome to join. IB has its own IB vision and StuCo (student committee) groups where you can meet fellow students from higher semesters and get involved in a range of activities. You will get more information on these groups during the orientation days. Get to know studierenplus! This diverse extracurricular programme allows you to gain complementary skills and competences as an add-on to your regular degree programme. Courses range from foreign languages, intercultural communication, ethics and sustainability to professional development classes. Learning Centre The Learning Centre offers a wide variety of facilities to support working and studying at the university. Two large reading rooms with study areas, single and group study cabins, multiple group rooms and lounges, computer rooms and a cafeteria. The central part of the Learning Centre is the service desk in the entrance area. Here the team is committed to helping you find and use the information you need. Where? Ethical and sustainability programme With the Ethical and Sustainability Programme we offer you a chance to extend your hori-zons – a look at current problems that affect us all, for example, climate change, shortage of resources, or what responsible business practices are. Reutlingen International Office Reutlingen International Office is a central academic service unit of the university, and offers support and advice on all international matters to German and international stu-dents, to academic staff from all schools, and also to guests of the university. Family Services Centre The Family Services Centre is the first point of contact for young mothers and fathers. Who is in charge of what and whom can I contact in case I have an inquiry? Find a list of important institutions, student associations and service offices on campus below:

AStA The letters "AStA” denote the General Student Committee of the University. The ASTA is the executive organ and the chair of the Student Parliament (STUPA). The Student Parliament represents the students, their opinions and their rights and can pass “laws”. The ASTA is made up of five members who administer the daily business of the student body. Where? University ministry The ekhg Reutlingen is the Protestant and Catholic Student Ministry on campus. As well as offering support and guidance in religious and spiritual matters, the programme also in-cludes a range of seminars on acquiring social skills and how to cope with the demands of studying for a degree. Campus CaRT

The CampusCaRT is Reutlingen University’s multifunctional smart card. It has a number of different functions, including the following:

. Student identity card . Library card . Cashless payments in the Cafeteria (Mensa) . Payment card for vending machines . Entry into particular rooms or labs . Payment card for copy machines and printers . Discounted fares on public transport (Naldo)

You will receive your Campus CaRT by mail once your enrolment has been completed. You can extend the validity of your CampusCaRT for a further semester by inserting it into one of the electronic self-service terminals in the foyer of Building 5. For questions or in case you lose your Campus CaRT, please contact the StudentServiceCenter in building 3.

StudentServiceCentre (SSC) The Reutlingen University StudentServiceCentre is the first contact point for all audiences, i. e. applicants, students or former students.
