The Festival has welcomed performers

of the calibre of Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Sa-rah Vaughan, Weather Re-port, Gil Evans, Sting, Charles Mingus, Sonny Rollins e Keith Jarrett.

In recent years,

thanks to the

newly-constructed

main stage in

the Santa Giulia-

na Arena, the

event has expanded even

further, becoming a landmark for

international music even beyond

the boundaries of jazz: Elton John, R.E.M., Santana, Prin-ce, Eric Clap-ton, Liza Min-nelli, James Brown, are just

some of the stars

who have perfor-

med at recent

editions.

Since 1993,

the Festival has

also featured a winter date

in Orvieto, with

a five-day event at New

Year.

350,000 visitors attend the Festival

every year. Gate receipts from about

50,000 paying visitors are in excess

of € 1 million: these are the statistics

which make Umbria Jazz one of the

biggest live events in Europe.

The average UJ visitor is aged under 40 with a medium-high level of educa-

tion. Those visiting from outside

Umbria remain at the event for more than 2 days. The Festival’s appeal

draws new visitors every year, and

continues to thrill the “veteran”

festival-goers who, on average, come

back for another 3 editions or more.

Over 17 million: the number of Italians

who recognise the Umbria Jazz brand.
