Namaskar everyone !

The greatest assets that we have ever earned are the parents’ trust and confidence, which is helping us to become more committed and responsible towards your children. We are bound to be accountable on the basis of this faith and support.

I would like to extent a very warm welcome to all our students who have been admitted this year and also those who are getting promoted. On this occasion, I would also like to request all our teachers and administrative staffs to keep up your good work, honesty and dedication as you have been known for across a long academic history of Mahendra Bhawan. I am confident that this will go a long way in the overall development of this school with its historical legacy and better prepare us to be stronger professional and help face the emerging challenges. I extend my sincere thanks to you all for being part of this institution! Dr. Madhura Karki Chairperson, Mahendra Bhawan Higher Secondary Boarding School

Established in 1957 as girls’ school in Kathmandu by Ms. Elizabeth Franklin with support of United Mission to Nepal, the Mahendra Bhawan Higher Secondary School carries a legacy of fine discipline, moral values, self help and comprehensive academic development. In the era when value of girl education was still ignored, the school leadership accepted the challenge by attracting girls from various social and economic strata of population including rural-urban mix. Until 2015, over 2500 girls have graduated from the school, engaged in various professional fields contributing to national development.

In the year 1973, the phasing out of the United Mission and handing over of the management to the Government of Nepal, has changed it into the community management approach in 1990. Currently, the institution operates under Mahendra Bhawan Education Foundation. In a way, the community managed system has facilitated the desirable transformation to cater to the changing needs of the present students. Keeping in view the inclusive policy and practices, the school has turned into a co-ed system in the year 1995. Keeping in view greater social responsibility, the school has enrolled orphans and urban poor providing them quality education. Presently, the school has nominated New Management Committee, chaired by Dr. Madhura Karki, the ex-student of the school. The forty highly experienced teachers, 90% female, provide quality teaching services. There is residential facility, adequate physical space and infrastructure favorable for multiple activities for students growth.

Our purposeWe ensure all students can be successful though just not in the same way. We work as a team to meet the individual needs of students toward their overall achievements in life. We focus on student leadership, self- discipline, manner, self- help and hygiene-all aspects necessary to enhance their life skills. A balanced approach of academics and extra-curricular activities provide a suitable combination for the students to help accelerate their personal and professional goals.
