Broadstairs town
Broadstairs enjoys an attractive combination of
coastline and countryside and is a popular holiday and
day-trip destination. Rolling hills, woodlands and
pretty villages are within easy reach, as are miles of
coast varying from sandy beaches to towering cliffs.
Broadstairs has close associations with the author
Charles Dickens, and has a lively cultural calendar
including a famous folk music festival.
London is only 90 minutes away on the high speed
train, and the beautiful city of Canterbury is just 30
minutes away.
Average transfer times to Broadstairs are:
Heathrow Airport 150 minutes; Gatwick Airport 120
mins; Stansted Airport 150 mins; Ashford (Eurostar
station) 30 mins.

University campus
Christ Church University is a modern campus with
excellent teaching and IT facilities. The campus is a
25-minute walk from the town centre and the beach.
Westwood Cross retail and leisure park is only
5-minutes walk away. Students meals, classes and
most activities will be held on the campus.
There is a lecture theatre for film nights, and there are
playing fields and a sports hall. The classrooms and
hall are all large and well equipped.
Excursions are to London, Canterbury, Cambridge and
Greenwich. On Sundays, while Homestay students
have a free day, residential students staying for 2
weeks or more will have an additional local visit or a
trip to Westwood Cross.
There are activities every evening for residential
students, and twice a week for Homestay students,
including discos, karaoke, quizzes and BBQs.

Sports are usually at the beach and include beach
volleyball, Frisbee and swimming
Arts & Crafts: making masks, costumes, jewellery,
posters and kites
Drama workshops
Large retail and leisure centre Westwood Cross is
next to the university campus
Excursions
Every week there is a full day excursion by coach or
train to a well-known city, including:
London museum and sightseeing walk
Cambridge and Kings College Chapel
Greenwich Observatory and Bluewater shopping
Half day excursions include:
Canterbury and museum
Margate and bowling
