PROGRAMS OF SHARING CHRIST'S LOVE

Lutheran Ministries Media is commemorating 2,000 programs on the Sunday, February 24, broadcast of Worship Anew. It was on October 5, 1980 the ministry began airing the weekly program (then known as Worship for Shut-Ins). The story of the ministry began in 1965 with Rev. Oswald Bertram, who had a vision to reach people with God’s Word through media. The program was filmed at the WSPD television station in Toledo, Ohio, and broadcast until the Lord called Pastor Bertram to his eternal home in May of 1979. Production then ceased, leaving a great void. Soon, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, seeing the needs of their congregation and the surrounding area, took up the challenge of restarting the television ministry. And in the fall of 1980, Fort Wayne’s WPTA began broadcasting Worship for Shut-Ins for the first time under the new flagship of Lutheran Ministries Media, Incorporated.

2,000 Programs ofSharing Christ's Love!

With the Lord’s blessing, the ministry grew, and facilities and technology advanced. We moved from our long-time home at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and opened the Wolf Chapel and Elsie Rossman Media Center on the campus of Concordia Theological Seminary in 2010. We transitioned from standard to high definition in 2014, and eventually became known as Worship Anew in 2017. Throughout 2,000 programs, and multiple generations, Lutheran Ministries Media has reached many with God’s Word. Worship Anew is now in several television markets throughout the country, reaching thousands every week, and has seen viewership more than double over the past five years. We still hold close to where the program began - ministering to the aging, the hurting, and those who are facing life’s most difficult circumstances. According to the Lord’s will, we look forward to the next 2,000 programs and many more years of sharing Christ’s love through Worship Anew.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15

February 3, 2019 – Fourth Sunday after the EpiphanyPsalm 71:1-12; Epistle: 1 Corinthians 12:31b-13:13; Gospel: Luke 4:31-44“Christ Is the Real Thing!” - Sermon Text: Luke 4:32 - Rev. Dr. Thomas AhlersmeyerThe words and actions of Jesus Christ communicated astonishing authority to people accustomed to timid and contrived religious teaching. Can He do the same to us in 2019? Listen to His words. Consider His actions. Christ Is the Real Thing! February 10, 2019 – Fifth Sunday after the EpiphanyPsalm 138; Old Testament: Isaiah 6:1-8; Gospel: Luke 5:1-11“A Great Fishing Story” - Sermon Text: Luke 5:1-11 - Rev. Dr. Walter Maier IIIJesus is the best fishing partner. He knows where the fish are! The Gospel of Luke relates a great fishing story, which, however, is about so much more than just catching fish. February 17, 2019 – Sixth Sunday after the EpiphanyPsalm 1:1-6; Epistle: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20; Gospel: Luke 6:17-26“Blessed Are You” - Sermon Text: Luke 6:17-26 - Rev. Thomas EggoldThe Beatitudes are not a moral roadmap designed to lead us to heaven. They do not constitute a list of demands promising blessings in return. No, the Beatitudes bring blessings because they come to us as requirements of righteousness already met in Jesus. He is the one who has fulfilled every demand of the Law. He is the one who has taken away our sin and come to give us the Kingdom.

Gospel: Luke 6:27-31“Love, Bless, Pray” - Sermon Text: Luke 6:27-31

Rev. Paul Shoemaker

Jesus tells us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. All of that happened to Jesus who continues to love, bless and pray for us so we

may spend our eternity with Him.
