February 2016
What a mighty God we serve!!
2016 is a new year with so many ministry opportunities for us to be involved in as a
church!
We’ve rolled through the holidays and the ice storm and now we begin the month of
February with a challenge to be Kingdom Focused. This is our theme for 2016 as we
strive pattern our lives after Christ in the light of His coming Kingdom.
As we seek to be Kingdom Focused followers of Christ, we will begin a new sermon series
that will help us understand our roles as Christ’s subjects in His Kingdom. Our new series
“The Gospel” begins Sunday Morning February 7th.
Sunday February 7th is also Real Tree Sunday! Dress in your favorite camo
outfit as we celebrate the men of FBC Tipton. We will have a men’s choir plus some
testimonies of our faithful men of God. BBQ for lunch, just bring desserts and sides. The day
before, February 6th, we will have a Men and Boy’s Cookout and Skeet Shoot at
Scott Smith’s house at 2:00pm.
February 14th is our Valentine’s Banquet at 6:30pm. There is no cost so come
and join us for a wonderful time of fellowship together.
February 26-27th is the Mingling Souls Marriage Simulcast at 6:30pm. The
cost is $10 per couple and covers food and materials. Please sign up through the office.
On March 10th, FBC Tipton will host the Singing Church Women of Oklahoma!
Mark it down on your calendar and invite your friends! In anticipation of this event, we will
have a Church-Wide Work Day on March 5th at 8:00am to get our church ready to host
our community.
We are also planning a Mission Trip during Spring Break to Walters,
Oklahoma to do information surveys for FBC Walters. More details will be coming soon.
With Easter coming up on Sunday March 27th, we are putting forth a prayer strategy
starting on February 1st. We are calling it the 56-7 Prayer Challenge. There are 56 days
between February 1st and March 27th. We are challenging our members to pray each day at
7:00am and at 7:00pm for: 1 person who is lost, 1 member who has been missing from our
church, and 1 opportunity to speak to them about Christ and invite them to Easter Services.
On Easter Sunday, we will begin with an early Praise and Worship Service at 8:00am with Breakfast to follow at 9:00am. Sunday School and Morning Worship will continue at normal times. This will be a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Christ with our community as we preach and teach about the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior!! I pray that you will get on board with all the incredible things that God wants to do in our community through FBC Tipton!! God is good… All the Time!! Bro. Paul
NOTES NOTES NOTES NOTES
FROM THE FROM THE FROM THE FROM THE
LOFTLOFTLOFTLOFT Greetings Brothers & Sisters! January is fading as February looms ahead. Can March (Spring?), be far behind with warmer temperatures and early flowers peeping through bravely?!? I certainly am looking forward to that time of year, so that I can begin being outdoors a bit more comfortably. Just sayin’. Also coming in March (the 10th) we will host the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma. The concert is set for 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 10, and we want to have a full house in attendance! Invite and encourage and promote and I know we can do it for the glory of God!!! A related ministry opportunity will be the “Love Offerings” we will be taking for Kerrie Herring to help defray her expenses as she travels to Latvia in May with the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma. They will be partnering with local churches; sponsoring a Women’s Conference; and singing concerts in several churches and public venues as they reach out to the people of Latvia with the love of Jesus! Please pray and give generously as we help send our own missionary, Kerrie, around the world with the good news of salvation in Jesus! Acts 26:16 says-But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. We, like Paul, are admonished by God Himself to both minister and witness, if we have accepted Christ. We, like Paul, ought also be dedicated to the cause of Christ with all that is within us that God might be glorified and that people might come to Jesus in repentance and salvation. Let us each watch where God is working, and then join Him in that activity. God bless you as you go. “Sing”cerely, Dale
Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma The Singing ChurchWomen (SCW) of Oklahoma is one of the performing groups sponsored in part by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO). The group, begun in the fall of 1989 by founding director, James D. Woodward, now numbers nearly 350 active singing members. The phenomenal growth and statewide popularity are due in large part to the leadership and vision of Dr. Bill Green who directed the group from 1991 (following Woodward’s death) until 2009. The group’s next director, Dr. Ken Gabrielse, who now serves as the Dean of Fine Arts at OBU, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the group and focused on a worship service concert, continued by their next director, Bart Morrison. Currently, the group is under the direction of the BGCO State Worship and Music Specialist, Dr. Randy C. Lind, who also conducts the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma. The SCW has presented the musical gospel in many different states and around the world. They have been on ministry trips to Brazil, Romania, and Hungary. Wherever the ladies sing, their concerts are characterized by great attention to musical detail and the passionate singing of their love for Jesus Christ. The ministry in song is infectious. These ladies represent music ministries of Southern Baptist Churches from all around our great state. Usually, the member-ship presents two concerts each month during the October-May concert season. Due to size, the choirs split down I-35 to present their concerts. However, once or twice every season, the group is divided into smaller groups to present their music in churches that may not be able to host the larger choirs. First Baptist Church, Tipton will host a small group of the Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma in concert on March 10, 2016. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. The SCW will be presenting music that expresses their unity as they present “Soli Deo Gloria”. The concert includes traditional and contemporary arrangements, scripture, and congregational worship. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome to attend this concert sponsored by First Baptist Church of Tipton.

“The objective of the Youth Evangelism Conference
is to give students and student leaders opportunities to
shape and develop personal evangelism in their schools,
homes, and communities,” said Nick Atyia, pastor of
Seminole, First, and former student evangelism and
missions specialist at the Baptist General Convention of
Oklahoma. “Providing robust equipping breakouts from
quality leaders to help encourage students to succeed in
the daily task of sharing their faith is the new strategy
for YEC.”
Keynote speakers for the general sessions include Ray Comfort, Emeal Zwayne and Atyia. Comfort is a best-selling author of 80 books, and is co-host with Kirk Cameron of the TV program, “The Way of the Master,” which is broadcast to 190 countries. Zwayne is president of Living Waters Publications. After his radical conversion to Christ in 1991, he enrolled at Biola University as a Biblical Studies and Theology major. Having received his pastoral ordination in 1995, he served for almost six years as a full-time associate pastor and vice president of his church’s board. He is the executive producer of the “180” and “Evolution vs. God” movies, as well as “The Way of the Master” television program. His teachings have extended to people of different age groups throughout America and other parts of the world, and he has been the featured speaker at various conferences, churches and learning institutions. YEC worship will be led by the Jared Wood Band from Dallas. Students also will have their choice of several breakout sessions on evangelism and missions to attend. The cost for each student and sponsor is $38, which includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Churches may secure a cabin for the event that will best suit the needs of each group.

Thoughts for Valentine’s DayThoughts for Valentine’s DayThoughts for Valentine’s DayThoughts for Valentine’s Day
Valentines Day, a time when thoughts turn to love.
But what is love? Is it a box of chocolates, or a pretty
valentine? Is it a red rose, or maybe a dozen? Is it a
peck on the cheek, a fond embrace, or a big bear hug?
Well, sometimes love is known in those ways. But
love, real love, is how we relate to God and to one
another if life is what it ought to be — beautiful!
1 Corinthians 13:13 - New King James Version (NKJV) And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the
greatest of these is love.
History Lesson

February 2016
A history of First Baptist Church Tipton covering the years 1968
through 2012 is available at the church office. Contact Carl Ann Ward at
580-667-5501 for information or to secure a copy. Many thanks to those
who helped to make the booklet possible.
““““DID YOU KNOW?” DID YOU KNOW?” DID YOU KNOW?” DID YOU KNOW?” According to record, at least six men have been
licensed to preach by FBC Tipton. Garland Jennings was licensed in
August 1953 and became a pastor. As far as we know, the other five men
decided not to enter the ministry. (Their names may be seen in the first
addition of FBC History).

DID YOU KNOWDID YOU KNOWDID YOU KNOWDID YOU KNOW
Did you know that God’s way gives us the best church?
The meaning of church is that a church consists of a group of spiritually
baptized believers who have covenanted together to carry
out the Lord’s commands.
A church is a called out community of believers. Often our
conduct and character is influenced by the people we
associate with. The Lord wants us to associate with
His people who are trying to live according to his Word.
The mistake of a church is that some people continue to
run with the old crowd after they are saved. Some people
will associate with a church that seeks to meet the social,
mental, emotional, and educational needs of people,
not their spiritual needs. Religion without redemption
means nothing to God or man. Look at the Pharisees.
The marvel of a church is a blessing to be a part of a
church, made up of loving and caring people. A church
should want to see people saved and serving the Lord.
Our main goal is to see people saved and living like
Jesus and doing His work.
Remember---A thankful person is a happy person.
