The Royal Family Kids Camp

• Founded by Wayne and Diane Tesch in 1985• The strategy is to mobilize churches to

sponsor a one week camp• The vision is to serve 100,000 children

annually by the year 2030• The mission is to create positive memories

for abused and neglected children ages 7 -11, in a one-week camp experience

• The purpose is to birth, train, and support camps for abused children

Why Royal Family Kids Camp

Last summer I spent a week volunteering at this camp as a counselor for a little girl. This camp is for abused and neglected children, and it is very hard to see them arrive and have so much pain in their eyes. At first my girl didn’t want anything to do with me, she didn’t trust anyone, but in the end she learned to trust me. This is one of the most emotional, yet experiences I have ever had in my life.

Inputs and Outputs• 8,470 volunteers to support the children

• Ambassadors to make RFKC known and explicate the meaning of the camp

• The ambassadors also raise their own funds

• Number of campers is over 6,711

• Number of volunteers 8,470

• Average amount of money raised per camp $28,891

The Process…• Volunteers are found and raise money

– Volunteers are substantive, they allow this camp to happen

– Ratio for children are 1 adult to 2 children

• Attend training sessions• Children are cared for and feel safe• They create art

– Discover hidden talents!

The Outcomes• Children who have

been hurt physically and emotionally learn that it is not their fault

• They see that they can be loved

A Nice Story…• A little boy who had went to camp a year before was very angry and didn’t want anything to do with his foster parents. His foster parents were going to give him up after camp, because he was too much to handle, but they had seen such a huge difference after camp that they ended up adopting him.

• This year when this little boy came back he was such a help to another little boy who was having anger issues, and he just sat with him and engaged in a discourse.

million American children are reported as abused, physically attacked, emotionally damaged, sexually molested, or neglected, often by the people they have loved and trusted most

Children are hurt way too often, and they are our future and deserve much better.

Children are very vulnerable, and need a safe place.

Most children question “ Am I loved?”, all children should feel loved and that’s what royal family kids camp does.

Children who are being abused and/or neglected can end up dead!

Critical Thinking at RFKC• To solve puzzles

– These children have puzzles of their own that they try to solve at camp and understand

• To understand the importance– This camp helps children understand how important they really are

• To plan– The children learn to follow a schedule of daily activities

Critical Action at RFKC• To be decisive

– This camp helps children understand that they are able to make decisions themselves

• To problem solve– Lot’s of the children learn other ways to express their problems not only through anger

• To make reasonable judgments– These children learn to think before they do or say something, so they can understand their feelings better.

The Thinking Foundation• The mission is to support high quality research on cognitive skills development, creativity, and critical reflection-at pre-school, K-12 and college levels in order to transform learning, literacy, teaching and

leadership around the world for those with the greatest need

The Thinking Foundation• Their secondary focus is to look for

programs that look at interdependency and interplay of language and culture.

• Your foundation can help increase funds to further help these less fortunate kids increase their interdependency.

Most of these children don’t understand anything else, but hate and anger. They don’t even think that they can be loved. Royal Family Kid’s Camp changes that!

A special note…• Dear Friend, They come to us broken.

Battered. Bruised. Often, the outward abuse while substantial cannot touch the damage to their shattered hearts and spirits. It is for these abused, abandoned and neglected children of the world that Royal Family Kids Camps exists.It is our goal to make a lasting difference in the young lives of children, ages 7-11, by giving them a week filled with fun, love, attention and care.
