British people watch a lot of television, but this does not mean that they do not reading . They are the worlds third biggest newspaper buyers.

Newspaper publication is dominated by the national press. There are more than eighty local daily papers, but the total circulation of all of them together is much less then the combined circulation of the national dailies.

Most local press dont appear on Sundays, so on that day the dominance of the national press is absolute. The Sunday papers sell more copies then the national dailes and are thicker.

Paperboys and papergirls deliever the newspaper to over 60 percent of British families every morning. Teenagers get up at half-past five every day to earn a bit of extra pocket money.
