Balmoral Knitwear are knitwear manufacturers in Scotland, specialising in high quality, short run
and fast turn-around manufacturing.
We use British Wool, Merino Wool, Sports Loden 100% Wool, 50% Merino Wool 50% Acrylic, 50%
Cotton 50% Acrylic and TPA 100% Acrylic.
We can also use techical yarns, such as Teflon-treated 50% Wool 50% Acylic and Nanotech-

British Wool
Pure New Merino Wool
Shepley Yarns of Yorkshire spin this rugged yarn from British-sourced wool to give a traditional handle and a hand-wash finish.
Spun by the high-tech Austrian spinner, Schoeller, this Pure New Merino Wool yarn has a luxuriously soft handle, and is machine washable.
High quality Merino Wool spun into a blend with Acrylic. Can be treated during dying process with Teflon to resist pilling and spills. Machine washable.
Sports Loden 100% WoolAlso spun by Schoeller, Sports Loden Wool is a good compromise between the soft handle of Merino Wool and the resistance to wear of British Wool.
Soft but hard-wearing 100% Acrylic yarn. Machine washable.
Top European blend of cotton with acrylic yarn from TVU of Germany. Machine washable.

Balmoral Knitwear manufacture 2,000 garments per week in the factory in Scotland.
Most of our knitting machines are programmable Shima Seiki SES122RT 7 gauge and 10 gauge machines.
We also have 50 embroidery heads in-house.
Knitting designs are via our Shima SDS One Apex 3 system.

Pure New Merino Wool from Schoeller of Austria
Schoeller’s Merino yarn is a high quality, worsted-spun yarn: machine-wash and tumble-dryable.
The shades below are examples of the shades we can obtain in Pure New Merino Wool. We always keep Cream, Black and Navy in stock.

We keep basic shades in stock in our own factory in Scotland, but we also have access to a huge range of shades at the spinner.
Our spinner also has a seasonal stock range available in small order lots.
This is their stock range for Fall/Winter 2016/17:
50% Cotton 50% Acrylic from TVU of Germany
A wide range of shades are available from our spinner of 50% Cotton 50% Acrylic yarn.
The quantities available in a batch vary by shades, so please contact us to ask about specific shades.
Nanotech-treated 80% Wool 20% Nylon from Schoeller of Austria
We also work with technical yarns, such as Nanotech-treated yarn. The treatment, during the spinning process, adds a microscopically thin layer to the yarn, resulting in a yarn which is virtually impermeable to water, stains and odours and is said to be practically self-cleaning - see below. Nanotech treatment also gives an excellent handle to a very strong wool-nylon fabric.

EMBROIDERY, APPLIQUÉ AND PRINTING
Embroidery and Appliqué
We have 50 embroidery heads in-house and long experience of
embroidery.
This is not a technique we can do in-house, but
we can refer you to a company who can print
on knitwear, Faering Digital Printing. We
would recommend our single-bed 10 gauge Merino knitwear as
suitable.
Faering tell us:
“Knitwear can be printed with high quality
inks that retain the handle and feeling of
the fibres.
Digital printing is particularly suitable
for complex or multi-coloured patterns, or
where fade-effects are required.
It can now be carried out on highly textured and uneven surfaces
such as cable or crochet knits.
It can be an alternative to jacquard or to intarsia
knitting when the patterns are complex, or when the knitting is very
fine gauge.”
