NOTES/REMINDERS FOR THIS SUMMER SHOW 2018 SCHEDULE(1) The previous single class Strombocactus Group or Pediocactus Group now has two limited pot size classes 45 & 46. (2) Turbinicarpus Group Classes 59 and 60 were previously added to SECTION 2. (3) Crassula Subgroup (Class 68) replaces Adromischus Subgroup in SECTION 3; however Adromischus Subgroup (Class 84) is retained in SECTION 4. (4) Crassula Subgroup (Class 88) was previously added to SECTION 4.
Please ensure your entries comply with the “BCSS Handbook of Shows”,10th Edition 2014. It is highly recommended that competitors acquire a
copy of this Handbook.
SHOW RULES
1
Definitions:(a) Open Classes (Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7) open to the BCSS Members and Non-Members of any age.(b) Novice Classes (Section 5) are open to BCSS Members only who have never won a first prize in a BCSS National or Zone Show, or a National Trophy in any show. A previous winner of a novice class may not enter that particular class again. The previous winner of a Portsmouth Branch Novices Trophy for Cactus and/or Succulents Other Than Cacti Classes may not enter the Novices Classes.(c) Junior Classes (Section 6) open to BCSS Members, and Non-Members, under 18 years of age.
2 Nomenclature will be as shown in the “BCSS HANDBOOK OF SHOWS”, 10th Edition 2014.
3 Sponsorship, Fees & Prizes. There will be no entry fee to classes nor class prize money at this show, however sponsorship for all classes will be much appreciated.

Judging will be carried out in accordance with the definitions and rules in the “BCSS HANDBOOK OF SHOWS”, 10th Edition 2014. For the purposes of this Schedule, classes asking for two or more “different species” or “different genera” shall be deemed to imply that they should be in separate pots. The Judge(s) reserve the right to withhold any award or prize ticket if in their opinion no exhibit in a particular class merits such an award. Similarly, the Judge(s) may award “Highly Commended” in addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at their discretion.
5 Objections must be presented to the Show Committee in writing by 2pm ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW. The decision of the Judge(s) on all matters will be final.
6 Ownership. All plants exhibited in the competitive classes must be the personal possession of the exhibitor named on the entry cards.
7 Entry to each class is limited to a maximum of TWO per person.
8Awards. Branch trophies remain the property of the Branch and, if retained, must be surrendered to the Trophies Officer at the April Branch Meeting in the year following that in whichthey were won. On Show day, the winner will also receive a trophy card to keep.
9Staging & Removal of Exhibits. The Show Programme must be adhered to and no exhibit may be removed from the show tables before completion of the Prize-giving without permission of the Show Organiser.
10Safety of Exhibits and Personal belongings. Although all reasonable precautions for the safety of exhibits and personal belongings will be taken, no responsibility will be accepted for anyloss or damage, nor for any claims arising from such loss or damage.

Pot Sizes. Where an upper size limit is imposed, measurements of pots or containers are to be considered in accordance with the “BCSS HANDBOOK OF SHOWS”, 10th Edition 2014, i.e.;Circular pots or containers - the diameter at the top inside the rim.Square pots or containers - the distance between opposite sides at the top inside the rim.PLEASE CHECK YOUR POT/CONTAINER SIZES AS THEY CAN VARY CONSIDERABLY FROM THE SIZE STATED ON THEM.
12 Moving of Exhibits. For aesthetics, ease of viewing and safety etc., exhibits may be moved on the staging at the discretion of the Show Committee and/or Appointed Show Stewards ONLY.
13 Rights of Admission. The Show Committee reserves the right to refuse admission.

15 Entry Forms must be received by the Show Organiser not later than the THURSDAY prior to the Show Day regardless of submission method.
16 Conditions of Entry. Entry into any of the competitive classes in this Show implies acceptance of the rules printed above.
SPONSORSHIPIn order to defray the cost of running this show, sponsorship is respectfully requested at 50p per
class. Sponsorship money should be handed to the Branch Treasurer, Les Palmer.
