CUTTING

From fabric 1 cut:1x 8" x 8" (centre of block)

20x 3" x 3" (corners of border number 1)From fabric 2 cut:

2x 3½" x 45½" (you will need to join your strips to get the length, sides)2x 3½" x 51½" (as before, top and bottom)

From fabric 3 cut:2x 4⅝" x 4⅝" cut in half diagonally once (for block)

4x 3⅛" x 3⅛" (for block)4x 3" x 3" (for border number 2)

From fabric 4 cut:4x 6¼" x 6¼" cut in half diagonally twice (for border number 3)

4x 4⅝" x 4⅝" cut in half diagonally once (for block)From fabric 5 cut:

MAKING UP THE QUILT

Stitch the two triangles together to make a square. Sew 4 in total

Next stitch the small triangle to the square on one side, press and then the other triangle to the square. Sew 4 in total. Now sew in rows and then sew the rows together to make the square

Border 1

Corner block

Stitch the squares together to make the block, stitch 4 in total

Diagram block for border 1

Stitch the strips together to make the border strip, stitch 4 in total. On two of the strips sew a square each end. Stitch the two strips without the squares on them to the sides and then sew the

other strips on to the block top and bottom

Border 2

Stitch two of the strips to the sides of quilt. Next sew the small squares to each end of the last two strips, sew them to the top and bottom of quilt

Border 3

Lay out the fabric pieces for each of the blocks as in the main diagram

Sew the small triangles together and then sew this to the large triangle to make a square. For blocks A you need to make 14 in total and blocks B the same number

Stitch the two triangles together to make the square, sew four in total.

Lay out all the blocks as in the main diagram. Stitch them together to make the strips. Sew two of the strips to the quilt sides and on the other two strips stitch the corner squares to each end. Sew

them to the quilt top and bottom
