What are Freight Consolidation Centres?Urban freight consolidation centres seek to reduce the number of large delivery
vehicles entering the city centre by providing a facility, on the edge of the city
close to the strategic road network, where goods can be consolidated for
onwards dispatch in a smaller, electric delivery vehicle
Objectives for Bristol
• To reduce goods vehicle and delivery vehicle movements in the central
Bristol:
• To reduce congestion and improve road safety, contributing to the targets in
the Council’s Local Transport Plan;
• To improve the environment for residents, shoppers and visitors
• To improve air quality
• To improve access and servicing arrangements
