Dear Parents:
Thanks to all of you who attended conferences in January. We had an excellent turn-out and I appreciate your involvement in your child’s education. Here are some additional important items for your consideration:
Kindergarten Enrollment for 2020-2021
We are now taking enrollment for kindergarten students (children who are 5 by August 31, 2020). If you have a prospective kindergarten student please go to www.mpsaz.org/enroll and click on 2020-2021 New Student Enrollment. Brinton hosted a kindergarten round-up meeting in January. As of right now, we offer 3 sections of full-day kindergarten, however that may change depend-ing on the MPS Governing Board budget decisions for the upcoming school year.
Class Placements for 2020-2021
As we begin to make plans for next year, our goal is to ensure the best learning environment for each and every child. Brinton has a great staff who will strive to serve each child in a positive and caring manner. Class placements are made very carefully and several factors play into those placements. Some important factors are: heterogeneous mixtures of students, students’ academic and be-havior needs, numbers of boys and girls, group dynamics, separation of certain students, learning and teaching styles, etc. On occasion parents feel the need to provide input regarding class placement. If you feel the need, we welcome your input. However, we have guidelines regarding this input.
1) An official Parent Input for Student Assignment form must be filled out by parents in order for input to be considered.
2) This form is available in the front office and is due before April 10, 2020. Any forms received after this date may not be considered in time for placements.
3) Parents are requested to list issues, concerns, environmental needs, teaching styles, or learning concerns for your child.
4) Parents need to understand that teachers and the principal will make the final decision regarding student placement as many factors need to be considered.
Open Enrollment / Boundary Exceptions
If your child is at Brinton on Open Enrollment and you have not yet returned a request for next school year, please be sure to do so as soon as possible. Re-minder that you need to submit a new request for each child, each school year. Open Enrollment forms can also be found online at www.mpsaz.org. Applica-tions received by March 1 will receive a notification by April 1. Applications received after March 1 will be placed on a waiting list pending class assign-ments and determination of capacity. Open Enrollment requests are consid-ered each year on a case by case basis and require principal approval.
Have a Great February!
Sincerely, Doreen Brindley Brinton Principal

Brinton Dress
Code
As the weather starts warming up again, we encourage you to go over our dress code. It can be located on the Brinton web-site, or we will be happy to send a copy home with your stu-dent upon request.
Health Office News
In September of 2018, the Arizona Department of Health Services revised the immunization schedule guidelines
required for school entry. The Tdap and Meningococcal Immunizations previously required at age 12 (or prior to
entering the 6th grade), are now required at 11 years of age, regardless of school grade. With this new change stu-
dents should now be receiving these required immunizations as soon as they turn 11. If your student has already
turned 10 years old, please schedule an appointment for them to receive these vaccines. Once the requirements
have been met, please provide the health office with an updated copy of your student ’s immunization record. Stu-
dents who do not meet this new requirement will not be allowed in school for the upcoming 2019-20 school year.
Please call the school nurse or health assistant if you have any questions. 480-472-4085.
