1. Representing almost 6% of the world's water resources, statistically Indonesia does not include countries with water scarcity. However, now most of the areas such as Java, Bali, Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara have a net water deficit due to the lack of maximal water resources management and exacerbated by the increasing population

2. Only 29% of people can access clean water through pipelines. This figure is still far from the government's target for 2019, which is 60%

3. Since 1970-2013, there has been a decrease in the groundwater surface reaching 80%. This is one of the factors that make it dicult for people to obtain clean water

4. Java Island is the island with the largest water demand deficit, which is -134.102 million m3 per year. This is due to the large demand of clean water that exceeds the availability of clean water available.

5. For surface water status, river conditions in some areas of Indonesia are well above the required thresholds required as a source of raw water. In 2016, it was mentioned that the turbidity level of water has exceeded the 1,000 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit)

6. Bappenas estimates that the financing needs of drinking water will reach IDR 275 trillion, while sanitation will reach IDR 273.7 trillion. Therefore, the development of drinking water and sanitation should be viewed as a long-term investment.

As an archipelago nation, the development of sea transportation, river transportation and ferry networks across Indonesia remain a top priority within the Indonesian Government’s infrastructure development agenda.

Investment in these networks accounts for 16% of the total US$368.9 billion investment required to meet the government’s National Medium Term Plan 2015-2019.

This investment is needed to facilitate improved passenger transport across Indonesia and to accommodate the estimated doubling of cargo volume by 2030.

Indonesia’s almost 5,000 kilometres of operational track is in a state of disrepair or needs to be upgraded to accommodate demand, while vast landmasses outside of Java have no rail services at all. As part of the country’s National Medium Term Plan 2015-2019, the archipelago has targeted extensive investment in new tracks across Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan to help reduce logistics costs, ease congestion across densely populated areas, and provide a most cost-eective means of inter-city travel. Industrial ParksIndustrial parks oer a cost-eective way to increase access to basic infrastructure and ensure that production can be carried out in an ecient and eective manner. These investment options often specialise in select industries and provide resources, utilities, and connections to transport networks to optimize production chains.

Special Economic ZonesSpecial Economic Zones (SEZs) in Indonesia are open to foreign investment and oer investors access to preferential regulatory infrastructure and taxation in an attempt to channel investment into specific locations. Indonesia currently has nine SEZs and plans for a total of 25 to be in place by 2019.

As part of RPJMN (National Medium Term Development Plan), Indonesia aims to build 14 industrial zones outside of Java.

There are currently 9 SEZs approved by the government with plans for a total of 25 to be in place by 2019.

Creating sucient infrastructure to support these 14 industrial zones is expected to cost 54 trillion Rupiah ($ 4.1 Billion).

Once established, each SEZ is expected to attract billions of dollars in inward investment and create tens of thousands of new jobs.
