Under equilibrium the foul and foxes, badgers and boars battle to rule. Outstretched arms close to her native soil, sweet Lupine lay innocent and gentle. Within the shade of the sweeping willow the gentle breeze whispers through. Well hidden among many roots and twisted bramble a fortress emerges. Beyond the shade of the willow the sure footing of oblivion strides ever closer. His dark vision clouded by the moonlit sky, each step breaking the damp earth. Time stood still as the hunt drew to a close, breath in synch, each one silent. Lupine kin of gods within stars lay amongst the fox gloves and bluebells. Evolved for stealth and speed, natural defence amongst ambling savage beasts. Arched hind legs, body raised Lupine steadies her vision on the opposing field. The poacher’s breath smoked in the damp air, his eye steady on his sights. Ears bent, a last dash to freedom, her target in sight and Lupine leapt. The brown flash strode across the woodland glade toward an open field. Oblivion slow and steady followed Lupine’s track, waiting for the opportune shot. A flash of light within dense smoke, leaping Lupine filled with lead. The small gasping bloody wreck wriggled as a poacher stood above. Grasping the fading Lupine around the ears, weathered hands lifted her. Dull grey his knife was drawn, with one swift motion a stream of crimson flow. Master of the land, aged in years but not in mind, wrinkled eyes and able hand. Striding through the moonlit forest floor his mind filled with passed kills. Lords of the sky, kings of the sea, none could compare to the wisdom of he.
