Integration between GoPass App and Tap Card will occur in two phases:– Phase I (Medium Integration): allows riders to check

balances, view last transactions and pay for GoLink rides when booking a tripo Implementation is schedule for mid-September 2020

– Phase II (Deep Integration): allows riders to use GoPass Tap card as a form of payment in the app for all modes of serviceo Implementation is dependent on additional technical

evaluation and audit requirements

GoPass App roadmap includes the ability for riders to tap at the validators across the system:

– As validators utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) exclusively for tap activity, this is a relatively complex endeavor as the App must be enabled to provision tickets digitally in an NFC environment. This approach has been undertaken previously by other Agencies (notably Tri-Met in Portland)

– Digital acceptance will capture valuable rider origination information from this deeper engagement between the rider and DART's fare collection technologyo Such information will be used in the future to provide improved

contextually relevant information to riders related to their journey.– DART staff is working with technology firms to scope full requirements and

costs associated with this change

Contactless EMVContactless EMV (cEMV) is quickly emerging as the first step to digital payment transformation.

DART will be piloting cEMV technology over the next coming months leading to a full rollout of Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

Riders will be able to tap their cEMV debit/credit card on DART's validators and pay for journeys seamlessly. Riders without a cEMV card can provision a debit/credit card into Google, Apple or Samsung wallets to pay for their trips. Such virtual wallets may reside in smartphones, smart-watches and other smart devices.

cEMV is currently being introduced by a few transit agenciesacross nation to include MTA, Tri-Met, UTA and CTA.
