Brief Industrial Profile of NANDED District

1. General Characteristics of the District

1.1 Location & Geographical Area.

The District of Nanded lies between 18.15 to 19. 55 degree North latitudes and 77.7 to 78.25

degree East longitudes. It covers an area of above 10,332 per Sq. km. It is located in the south

eastern part of the state. It is bounded on the North by Yavatmal District, on the South West

by Latur District, on the North West by Parbhani District of Maharashtra State, on the East

and South East by Adilabad and Nizamabad Districts of Telangana State and on the South

by Bidar District of Karnataka State. The area presents undulating topography with uneven

hills, plateau, gentle slopes and valley planes. Physiographically, the district can be divided

into 2 major parts, the hilly region on the North and North East and low-lying area on the

banks of the rivers Godavari, Manjra, Manyad, Penganga etc.

1.2 Topography

The location of Nanded is on Latitude of 18.15 to 19.55 N and Longitude 77.77 to 78.25 E. The

district occupies an area of 10332 km².

1.3 Availability of Minerals:

Although the district of Nanded is not bestowed with rich mineral resources, the deposits of

lime- stone and granite are noteworthy. Deposits of intertrepan lime-stone are found in

Kinwat Taluka, while Granite is found in large quantities in Biloli and Degloor talukas. The

estimated deposit of Granite in the district is about 4.70 lakh cubic-meter.

1.4 Administrative set up.

NANDED district has 16 Tehsils. At the district level collector is the Administrative chief and

at Tehsil level Tehsildars are looking after the administration as per collector’s instructions.

For rural development chief executive officer of Zila parishad and BDOs at block level are in

charge of the administration. Municipal council for Tehsils are responsible for development

of all the Tehsils.

3.4 Udyog Aadhar Registered Units:

Udyog Aadhaar registration is enabling the units/enterprises to seek information and apply

online about various services being offered by all Ministries and Departments. The process of

obtaining Udyog Aadhaar Number is free-of cost, paperless and results in instant registration.

Vide Notification dated SO E 2576 E dated 18th September 2015 published in Part II, Section 3,

Sub section (ii) of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary by Ministry of MSME Udyog Aadhaar

Memorandum has been functional. Till, 15th June, 2016 following number of Udyog aadhar

There is no major public sector organisation/multi National co. /Mega projects in Nanded.

So, Vendorisation / Ancillarisation do not exist.

3.8. Service Enterprises

3.8.1 Potentials areas for service industry:

Nanded district has many Pilgrim centre like Hujursaheb Gurudwara the ancient

temples of Lord Dattatraya and Renuka devi at Kinwat taluka and the temple of lord

Khondoba at Malegaon in Loha, people from different parts of the country visits these places.



Nanded has been declared as a holy city by the Government of Maharashtra and an amount

of Rs. 25 crores was sanctioned for overall development of the city. There is also direct train

service from Nanded to Amritsar, started mainly for the convenience of the Sikh Pilgrims. In

such a background, there exist scope for developing the Tourism oriented industrial activities

like Hotel Industry in places like Nanded, Mahur and Malegaon.

industries, Solar based and in service & maintenance etc.
