Brief Industrial Profile of Badaun-District
1. General Characteristics of the District
1.1 Location & Geographical Area.
Badaun is in the Bareilly Division and having 45 positions in the state as per area is
concerned. It was an independent local kingdom before 11 Dec. 1949. Subsequently on
July 1949 in the state of Badaun was merged into the republic of India and became a
district. The Badaun district is a famous religious spot for Muslims. The pilgrims going to
Ajmer- Shariff first get down at Badaun and offer namaz here then only they proceed to
Ajmer-Shariff. It is saying that the people coming form Eastern part of the country going to
Ajmer- Shariff pilgrimage is not accepted by Ajmer-Shariff if they don’t pay Namaz at
Badaun first.
Badaun district is lying between 78.54 and 69.20 longitude east and 28.25 and 29.10
latitude north. The district is bounded on the north by Jyotiphulenagar, Muradabad,
Rampur and Barielly district and on the south by Kashiram nagar and Aligarh, on the east
by Shahjahanpur and Farrukhabad District and on the west by Aligarh and Bulandshahar
district. The height from sea level is 192 meter in North and 166.4 meter in South. It is well
connected by railway and roadways. River Ganga flows through the district making the
land very fertile.
The Badaun district covers an area of 5168 sqkm within six sub-Division and 18 Blocks.

1.2 Topography
The topography of Badaun is mainly planned land mass. The bullai, Domath and matiar
soil are commonly found. Due to Tarai region the climate of the district is very pleasant. Here
summer starts very early. The temperature of districts is vary from 2 Degree Centigrade in winter
to 44 degree centigrade in summer. The wet season normally start in the end of June month. The
average rain fall is 861 MM in Badaun. The winter months are virtually dry.
1.3 Availability of Minerals. There is no mineral in Badaun district.
1.4 FOREST
Out of 520039 Hectare total area forest covers 6899 hectare.
1.5 Administrative set up.
Badaun District consist 6 Sub-Division or Tehsil having 1782 revenue villages. Tehsil
are named as badaun, Bisoli, Gunoor, Bilsi, Data Ganj and sahasawan. There are 164 panchayat
Samiti, 17 nagar Nigam and sic Nagar palika under six assembly area.

4.1 DETAIL OF MAJOR CLUSTER:
Mentha oil Extraction (Not identified CDP)
4.1.1 Manufacturing Sector:
There are 6 units in manufacturing sector producing & exporting mentha oil . This oil is
preparing from Mentha grass. Now one unit named “Natural essential oil coop. sewa samiti Ltd.
is under installation, It will take Mentha crystal& Deemed Mentha oil from other units and
extract the Mentha essential Oil.
4.1.2 Service Sector :
App. 400 units doing job work on Mentha oil extraction, Mentha Crystal & Deemed
Mentha oil. Zari& Zardoji work is also in very good condition in Budaun. This work is running
at Budaun City, Sahswan & Bisoli. App. 1000 units are running with the employment of
app.2500 worker and investment of only app.1500 Rs in one unit

Various central/ state departments are operating similar nature of activities/ schemes with
varying subside/ limits, required to be consolidated.
Better Technology Up gradation Scheme with some mechanism for tracking of
application status may be available on line.
Implementation of online submission of Entrepreneurship Memorandum.
Better loan scheme for self employment for educated unemployed youths.
More benefit to micro level enterprises under CGTMSE scheme.
Interest subsidy to Micro enterprises to attract more entrepreneurs to start new venture.
MDA scheme should be more attractive.
Procedure for National Awards should be simplified.
