Brief History about WISCONSIN Wineries

Wisconsin is one of the states you just cannot push aside when it comes to wine production. The state exports wine every year and, for this reason, makes nothing short of quality wine. Aside the wine export, the state of Wisconsin also exports the cheese.

You will agree that these two are highly complementary for those who understand good food. The WISCONSIN Wineries are apparently contributing their quota to state development and they are among the most recognized wineries in the country.

There are already a sizeable number of wineries in this state and many more wineries are being established each year. This means the wine making business is growing bigger as the years pass by. With time, the state of Wisconsin may be able to meet up with the big time wine exporting states in the United States.

In actual fact, the wine making business started in Wisconsin in the mid 19th century. That was when the very first group of grapes was planted. This very first set of grapes was planted to overlook the Wisconsin River.

The soil is very fertile and the grapes could grow very easily on it. However, the weather was not helpful to the planted grapes. The prevailing weather in the state of Wisconsin is winter. This makes harvest somewhat challenging. Despite these challenges, a number of WISCONSIN Wineries were able to start the business of wine production.

Some years later, a new discovery was made and this transformed the fate of wine production industry in Wisconsin. Instead of the ordinary grapefruit, a new kind of fruit was discovered, which was more able to withstand the rather moody climatic condition that prevails in Wisconsin.

The fruit in discuss was a blend of Native American and European fruit. This ensures better harvest and provides more raw materials for the ailing WISCONSIN Wineries of those early days.

Finally in 1994, the American Viticultural Association approved WISCONSIN Wineries as recognized wine producers in the United States. This further lends a hand to the growth and development experienced in the state by the wine growers.

As at today, there are several hundreds of wineries scattered across the face of Wisconsin state. Each year, these wineries produce a lot of wines. The wines are of top quality. They are consumed locally and also contribute to the export of the state.

A wine competition, the very first of its kind, was held in the state of Wisconsin in the year 2011. This further opened the wine making industry in Wisconsin to the world.

Wines produced from WISCONSIN Wineries have their own unique tastes and are unlike any other wine you might ever have tasted in any part of the world. The flavor is both natural and very distinct.

The number of wine producing outlets is increasing by the year and there are indications that many more wineries will come to birth in the nearest future. The wine industry in the state of Wisconsin may be able to grow so big and overtake the other leading wine producing states in the United States if care is not taken.
