Situated in Californias Eastern High Sierra, historicBridgep ort Valley has changed li ttle since cattlemen andminers discovered its grassy pastures in the1850s.Surrounded by vast National Forest lands, the Bridgeport region is an unspoiled recreational playground with pristinelakes, rivers, streams and hot springs.

Alpine adventures begin at Twin Lakes, popular forboating, camping, hiking, mountain biking, mountaineering, winter sports and fishing (the states largest brown trout wascaught here). Robinson and Buckeye creeks are renowned forfly fishing, and to the south, Virginia Lakes and Green Lakeoffer remote destinations for camping, fishing and hiking inthe Hoover Wilderness. Here too are the headwaters of theEast Walker River, which flows to Bridgeport Reservoirnortheast of town. The reservoir offers boating, fishing, watersports and birdwatching.

The Bridgeport area is rich in history. Theres the1880Mono County courthouse, which is still in use today.Museums explore Native American, mining and ranchingheritage. And nearby Bodie is one of the nations best-preserved ghost towns.

Best of all, this natural playground is matched with acomplete range of ameni ties. Youll find everything fromcreekside cabins and historic bed and breakfast inns tocamping out under the stars. Fine restaurants, cafs andquaint shops are found throughout the area, and outfitterscan provide gear for year round adventures.
