On September 26, infielder Casey McGehee, his wife Sarah and son Mackail attended Joe’s Run, Walk & Roll event in support of United Cerebral Palsy (UCP). United Cerebral Palsy is a cause that is near and dear to the McGehee’s. Their son, Mackail, is affected by the disorder. Earlier this season, the Brewers Wives organized a game-worn jersey raffle that raised over $50,000 for United Cerebral Palsy. On July 29, the check was presented to representatives of United Cerebral Palsy, and Mackail threw out the first pitch to his dad in a heartwarming moment. Later in the game, McGehee hit a pinch-hit home run. United Cerebral Palsy serves more than 176,000 children and adults with disabilities every day.

The Brewers Community Relations Department helps support thousands of worthy events and activities each year. Brewers Charities, Inc. is the official charity
of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. We are proud to give back to our community in many ways, and we consider our charitable efforts as an important
part of who we are as an organization.
The primary mission of the Milwaukee Brewers Community Relations Department and Brewers Charities, Inc. is to support activities and programs that focus on
youth recreation and education throughout Milwaukee and Wisconsin .
The Milwaukee Brewers and Brewers Charities are excited about the continued efforts to expand our impact in the community. This year, our players donated over $350,000 to Brewers Charities and other local causes. Together with donations and funds raised by our Brewers Wives organization and the team's corporate partners, more than $1.5 million in grants and in-kind donations were directed to Wisconsin organizations in 2009. Brewers Charities will remain a priority for the club as we are already working on a number of new fundraising programs for 2010. This season, the Community Relations Department provided nearly 21,000 promotional items and autographed merchandise memorabilia to assist organizations with their fundraising efforts. The Brewers continue to pledge to be an active member in the community, as well as make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
During the last homestand of 2009, fans were rewarded throughout
the weekend for their support this season. One lucky fan walked
away with the grand prize of a Chevy Malibu. All Brewers players
and coaches hopped in golf carts and traveled throughout the
parking lots, tossing t-shirts out to the fans and thanking them for
their support this season. This is the second consecutive year that
the team exceeded 3 million in attendance. We owe a huge debt of
gratitude to our fans. THANKS FANS FOR ANOTHER GREAT
SEASON!

Brewers 3rd Annual Block Parties
This season, the Brewers attracted over 17,000 fans to the 3rd Annual Brewers Block Parties hosted at several locations throughout Milwaukee. Fans started lining up before dawn to get an autograph from one of their favorite Brewers players. Bernie Brewer and the World Famous Klement’s Racing Sausages also made appearances at the events. Raffle prizes featuring Brewers game tickets, game-used memorabilia and other autographed items were also given away. The Brewers merchandise tent was available, featuring the latest Brewers apparel, and free hot dogs, soda and potato chips were provided to 300 people at each Block Party. Klement’s, Pepsi, Sportservice, Fox Sports Wisconsin and NewsRadio 620 WTMJ sponsored the event.
On July 11, TeamSmile came to Miller Park through a contribution to Brewers Charities from outfielder Mike Cameron. Mike’s gift made it possible for 298 children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee to receive free dental care. Local dental professionals also donated over $270,000 of free dental services. The kids received goody bags with a free t-shirt, baseball and game tickets, and former Major Leaguer Willie Wilson and Cameron made special appearances. Mike even took a turn in the dental chair to show the kids that going to the dentist is not something to fear. TeamSmile is a non-profit organization that provides quality dental care to underserved populations while encouraging volunteerism within the dental community.
On August 27, Brewers outfielder Mike Cameron hosted a
premiere Bowl-A-Thon. The event raised over $24,000 and
the proceeds sent 17 Milwaukee youth to Usher’s New
Look Camp in Atlanta. Camp New Look is a two-week
residential camp that supports underprivileged youth by
providing guidance and mentoring programs to help youth
become savvy business and community leaders in the
Sport and Entertainment Industries. At the event, several
of Mike’s teammates came out and enjoyed themselves off
the field with a few frames of action.

GM Doug Melvin and his wife Ellen were the driving forces
behind $65,000 in funds raised this season to support Susan
G. Komen for the Cure's Milwaukee affiliate. Their annual
"Step up to the Plate" fundraising events have helped build
awareness of and support for breast cancer education,
screening and treatment programs for women throughout
Southeastern Wisconsin. The cause is personal as Ellen
Melvin lost both her mother and a very close friend to breast
cancer, and the disease has touched the lives of other families,
too. Through the support of fans, friends and family members,
the Melvins held a series of in-game raffles and a private
fundraising event this season, with financial assistance from
sponsor National City Bank, now part of PNC. Over four years,
the Melvins have helped raise more than $135,000 for Komen/
Milwaukee in their quest to help end breast cancer forever.

This year, several players joined more than 2,500 area kids at
Wick Field for a one-day event hosted by the Milwaukee
Public Schools Recreation Department. The players helped
kids learn the finer points of baseball. The day was filled with
autographs, face painting, mini-clinics and a special
appearance by the World Famous Klement’s Racing
Sausages.
The Run/Walk has become so popular that all 2,500 slots sold out a full month before the race was held. The Run/Walk, now in its 11th year, is a popular draw because runners and walkers get to mingle with the World Famous Klement's Racing Sausages, test their running skills with the mascots, and enjoy a course that takes participants through Miller Park. The presenting sponsor of this year's race, AT&T, covered all costs for the event so that proceeds from participants could be directed to the youth recreation and youth education programs of Brewers Charities. This year, participants raised more than $70,000 for Brewers Charities, then enjoyed Klement's hot dogs, Pepsi products and a special trophy presentation hosted by Brewers broadcaster and Run/Walk celebrity starter, Brian Anderson.
