Founded in 1976 in Monza, Italy, themanufacturing company BrevettiStendalto, was the first to develop andmanufacture the revolutionary cablechains in nylon. Today Brevetti isconsidered one the most importantmanufacturers of plastic as well assteel cable chains in Europe.With a range of some 20 types ofchains, which can be used in over 200different applications, Brevetti cansolve problems related to guidingcables, hoses and other similarflexible materials, providing a comple-te and satisfactory solution.

Brevetti Cable Chains

Light and secure, even at high speed,Brevetti chains will provide protectionfor the cables or hoses carried insideat considerable travel distances.They are used to protect movingcables in a great variety ofapplications, such as machine tools,robots and manipulator systems,conveyors and warehouse systems,special vehicles and aerial platforms,offshore units.

Special cable chains for automation industry. The pictures show Brevetti cable chains mounted on an ABB industrial robot (IRB 6400 C compact). These chains havebeen developed in Sweden in collaboration with ABB Robotics, in order to protect all electrical cables feeding the robot against unnecessary bendings and wear.The chain makes it also possible to change rapidly a malfunctioning cable without dismantling operations.

How to choose a chainThe designer should consider what isthe travel length of the chain requiredand the travel length available toaccomodate the chain. He must alsoconsider the minimum bending radiiof the hoses and/or cables to beinstalled. The he selects the mostappropriate chains able to carry theadditional load per meter.

How to install a cablein the cable chainTo ensure the correct operation of thechain and to avoid damage to cable/hoses, they must be fitted as follows:

1.The bending radius of the chainmust be greater than the bendingradius of the cables/hoses.

2.The cables/hoses should be placedseparately rather than on top of oneanother.

3.There should be 10% free spacebetween the cable diameters and theinternal dimensions of the chain.

4. Install the cables/hosessymmetrically in the chain, havingthe larger and heavier ones placedtowards the outside and the smallerones in the middle.

Quality controlBrevetti cable chains aremanufactured under a severe qualitycontrol system approved, whenrequested, according to ISO 9001.Test are carried out with respect to:1) Raw materials2) Standard dimensions and3) Reliability trials.

Assembling and dismantlingof the linksThe chain is sold and deliveredcomplete with mounting attachments.It is always possible to modify thelength of the chain or replacedamaged links by simply using aspecial tool.

Guide ChannelTo enable the chain to workefficiently, it is necessary that thesurface of the support is both flat andcontinuous. Therefore, it is advisableto provide an adequate guide channelwhich we can supply on request.

SR 200 - SR 300 - SR 305 - SR 355The links are made in one piece. The connecting pivotpins are made from an anti-friction material.

SR 400The links are in one piece with a removable crosspiece with a “snap fit” connection for the installationof wiring equipment complete with connectors orjoints.

SR 306 - SR 307The links are equipped with transverse pieces indismountable halves and are available in thefollowing types; with a single slot and separatorsfeaturing a “snap fit” closure, with holes oraluminium rods and movable separators.

SR 308The links are joined with double connector pins andthey are equipped with cross pieces similar to seriesSR 306, SR 307

SR 316 - SR 318This series of chains are specially made to be usedwhere the travel distance is particularly long.The links are similar to those of series SR 306, SR308 but are equipped with skids which permit thechain to slide on itself. Special guide channels,equipped with rollers, are available to support thelinks of the chain in the section of the travel where thechain is not superimposed.
