• Every person who intends to breed snails, must abide by the following conditions: 1. Must have one acre of land. The useable area required is 1000m2 2. The property must be at an altitude of 0-800 m above sea level. We can utilize any ground and also lands with a slope of up to 20% in a mountainous or hilly area. Subsequently, our skilled collaborateurs will study the microclimate of the area. • The control of the wholesale prices of snail at national and international level has been taking place for almost 20 years.

• This control enables us to verify that prices have have sustained an annual increase of 2-3%. The price of snails is determined by a number of factors; large differences in values between batches from the same species can also be seen. First of all, the price takes into account the level of humidity of the negotiated quantity. It is already known that high humidity in a batch of snails is detrimental to the maintenance of the product.




Prices

• Products which are wet and unclean can reduce the price by up to 50%, unlike a product clean and dried to perfection. In 2007 the wholesale price of snails was affected by the international and local economy, as well as by demand and supply.

• Touchstone Snail Technologies Ltd has placed great emphasis on increasing production so as to enable the manufacturer to secure the required income. The international market for snails is mainly in Europe and to a lesser extent, in certain Asian countries.

• The market prices are not fixed and depend, of course, on the general economic conditions and on supply and demand. Considering the above, the international market prices range from 4 Euros per kilo.

• Touchstone Snail Technologies Ltd adopts various techniques to increase production. At this stage, the objective is to reach production levels an average of 6.5 tons yearly with the producer earning an income of around 26.000 per annum. The price is 4 euro per kilo.
