BUSINESS CARDSDESCRIPTIONBusiness card designed to match a letterhead with a personallycreated logo. The business card is aimed towards smallerbusinesses or individuals looking for a web designer or developer.

PROCESSTo Create the I used both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.I used Illustrator to create both my logos and my little icons. Whatwas nice about creating these things in Illustrator is that they wereeasy to edit. Along the way I ended up changing the colors ofa few things but I was able to just go into Illustrator, change thecolors, and refresh everything in InDesign. In InDesign I cameup with the main layout for everything. First I created my letterhead. After I created my letterhead I opened up a document tocreate my business cards. When I made my business cards I knewI wanted my letter head and my business card to be very similarso that with just a glance somebody could guess they are the samecompany. I repeated shapes and the icons to achieve that affect. Ialso used the same monochromatic color scheme.

Coordinating letterhead can be found on the next page.

BROCHUREDESCRIPTIONTwo sided brochure created for students in the Visual Media classat Brigham Young University Idaho, or others interested in theVisual FOCUS book.

PROCESSTo start out I made a lot of sketches. This was important becauseI needed to understand how the pages would fold and how tostructure my InDesign le. Second I picked colors and then Icreated a logo in Illustrator. After that I began with my InDesignle. I set up ruler guides and made my le look like my sketches. Iput in some place holder text and then got feedback from friends.

After that I wrote my body copy. I also found an image of me anda friend in high school to cut out. My friend is holding a yearbook,so I Photoshopped a picture of the visual media text book. Afterthat I got a little more feedback, and made my nishing touches. To print it I printed it at the school on nice paper and I printedit double sided. I used a cutting board I have at home to cut andscore my brochure.

    PROGRAMS USED Adobe Photoshop

    OBJECTIVES

•Learn basic photography skills.•Choose a color scheme, take aphoto to match those colors, thenincorporate the colors into thelayout.•Use a digital camera to take aquality image, then download it.

Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool onseparate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.)

•Size and crop the image, thenplace on an 8.5×11 page layout.•Use layers to design text, andrepeating graphic elements inPhotoshop.•Print with full-bleed margins.

PHOTO DESIGNDESCRIPTIONDemonstrate good photography and image editing skills.Incorporating color into a poster layout with original photo.

PROCESSFirst I took a bunch of photos. I had no idea what I wanted to dofor the project. I wasn’t sure what I wanted my subject to be or mycolor scheme. So after taking photos I sifted through them to seewhich ones I liked and which ones were composed well. I pickedthis one because I liked the subject and I thought I did a good

job with composition, light, and focus. After picking the photoI looked at the colors in the photo and picked a color scheme. My long board was originally pink, which is a shade of red. InPhotoshop I changed it to a brighter red so that my color schemewas more cohesive and bright. After I picked my colors and photoI did some sketches and then started implementing changes inPhotoshop. I put the layout together and also edited the photo.I edited the vibrancy and saturation, the levels, changed a fewcolors using selective color, and lastly I sharpened a few areas ofthe image. After having a few people look at my nished productI found some things I needed to change. I played around with thelayout some more and nally arrived at my nal product.

FLIERDESCRIPTIONThis is a promotional ier for a graduate leade rship conferenceput on by Vouant Communications.

PROCESSI started out by looking at the requirements of the projects andtrying to understand the message and the audience. Once Iunderstood who I was targeting and what I wanted to portrayI made a few sketches. Upon picking my favorite layout I put ittogether in InDesign. I tried to make an effective and professionaldesign. I printed my design out and showed it to a friend in theclass and my teacher. We were able to nd some good things in thedesign and identify some weak points. Based on what we talkedabout I was able to make my design better and more effective. One thing I worked on after talking to others about my draft wasthe ow. Before my design trapped the viewers eye at the top, nowthe viewers eye goes down the page to read the information.

    Brackets for writing HTML andCSS

    OBJECTIVES

•Size and optimize an originallogo as a .png for a web page sothe long side is 300 – 500 pixels.•Write content to describe theprocess of creating your logoand how it appeals to a targetaudience.•Acquire a working knowledge ofHTML.•Acquire a working knowledge of

CSS.•Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.

    WEB PAGEDESCRIPTION

A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo.

PROCESSI created this web page using only Brackets. I am mostly in web

development classes right now, so it was fun to be able to refreshmy memory on basic HTML and CSS.

I used a web page template to start from which had an HTMLand a CSS page. I used colors from my logo to choose the colorsfor my website. I found these colors by opening my logo inPhotoshop and using the eyedropper tool. Another thing I did wasimplement similar fonts. For my initials in my logo I used the font‘Sacramento’, so to keep the theme the same I used the same fontfor my heading. Unfortunately, I was unable to use the exact samefont I used for my logo in the website so I found another thin sans-serif font that looked similar to it. I used back-up fonts just in casethere is a problem with the fonts I chose.

    EVENT ADDESCRIPTION

A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fund-raiser using onlyMicrosoft Word and a scanner.

PROCESSFirst, I did some brainstorming and sketching. I thought ofdifferent events I could have and all the details that would beassociated with that event. Once i picked one I did a couplesketches and got to work. After sketching I picked font categoriesand gave myself three color scheme options to play with. Iscanned my photo and deleted the background using a toolin Microsoft word. Afterwards I added text boxes and put theinformation I needed on the poster. Once all of the informationwas in I formatted it. I picked my fonts and made the text differentsizes to suit its function and I made sure everything was alignedthe way I wanted it to be. The last thing I did was play with color.I had a few options for color schemes and I picked the one thatworked the best. After my draft critique there were some coloredits to make sure my event ad was giving the message I intended.
