IT STARTED WITH A BRILLIANT IDEAIn 1981, Venta’s founder Fred Hitzler invented the Airwasher and revolutionized the market. He recognized

that indoor air is often much too dry and also contaminated with harmful pollutants. His solution was the

principle of trapping air impurities in water and simultaneously humidifying the air.

Here is how the Venta Airwasher operates

A fan directs the ambient air into the water-filled

Airwasher, where it travels through specially ar-

rayed disk stacks. Hygienically clean air evaporates

from their surfaces into the room. Simultaneously,

the disks trap harmful substances such as dust or

pollen, which are then washed off in the water and

collected in the Airwasher.

40–60% optimal humidity

Heating removes moisture from the air in your space

in the winter, just as air conditioning removes mois-

ture from the air in the summer. That can irritate

eyes, mucous membranes and skin. Dry air has also

been shown to increase susceptibility to allergens
