SCHOOLS BACK IN SESSION!!School's back in session! This is just a cautionary reminder that school buses will be back on the road, children will be crossing streets, and speeding in a school zone can be both dangerous and costly. We love our neighborhood kids and want everyone to stay safe, so please allow yourself a few extra minutes to get to work or school. Students - We wish you a successful school year!
THANK OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM....Our maintenance staff at Aspen Pines work very hard to keep the property running smoothly! Their hard work includes getting called out in the middle of the night, always keeping the grounds picked up and clean, and finishing all work orders in a timely manor. PLEASE REMEMBER, if something doesn't seem to be working correctly call the office as soon as you notice! In some cases things happen where residents don't call right away, resulting in a delay of the timeliness of completion for work orders until after the weekend is over. Our maintenance staff is here from 8AM-4:30PM MONDAY- FRIDAY!! They do not come out on weekends unless there is an emergency. Please recognize all the hard work they do and the huge asset they are to Aspen Pines! If you see Jeff or Mike please stop to say hi and thanks! =)
Water is the single most important substance for preserving life and
we are rapidly depleting our supply of fresh, usable water, which only actually amounts to 1% of the earth’s supply. According to the Washington Post, brand new NASA satellite data shows how major aquifers are struggling to keep up with the demands of agriculture, growing populations, and industries such as mining.
We can do our part to help slow down the depletion of our water supply. The average American uses an astounding
88 - 100 gallons of water every day. This
adds up to over 30,000 gallons per year! Here are some simple ways you can save gallons of water in your home each year, save some money
on your water bill, and help protect our most valuable life source.
Tips to Conserve Water In Your Home1. Turn off the faucet while shaving or brushing your
teeth.2. If you enjoy a cold glass of water, place a pitcher
of water in your refrigerator. Don’t let the tap run until the water is cold.
3. Run your dishwasher & washing machine only once it’s completely full (good energy-saving tip, too).
4. Use and reuse one drinking glass per day.5. Don’t use your toilet as a wastebasket. Flushing a
tissue wastes 5 - 7 gallons per flush!6. Let your dirty pots and pans soak in the sink rather
than letting the faucet run while you clean them.7. Reuse the leftover water from boiling vegetables
or pasta to water your indoor plants, allowing it to cool first.
8. Thaw frozen foods in the refrigerator, not under a running faucet.
9. Be sure to alert your maintenance staff immediately if you notice a leaky toilet or dripping faucet.
10. Use the mantra “take a four-minute shower, not a quarter-hour!” Shortening your shower time, or turning off the running water while you soap up, makes a dramatic difference in water usage.
Every Drop Matters
Ingredients:4 Boneless Skinless Chicken
Breasts2 Lemons1 cup Chicken Broth¼ cup Capers1 lb. Angel Hair Pasta¼ cup All-Purpose Flour2 tbsp. Olive Oil2 tbsp. Butter¾ cup Heavy CreamParsley, chopped, for garnishSalt & Pepper
Directions:1. Heat butter and olive oil in a large
skillet over medium-high heat. Salt and pepper each side of the chicken breasts and dredge them in flour. Place chicken breasts in the skillet & cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked throughout and no longer pink in the middle. Remove from the hot skillet and set aside on a plate. Meanwhile, boil water in a separate pot and cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
2. Lower the heat under the skillet to medium-low and add broth, juice from both lemons (removing seeds), heavy cream, and capers. Bring the sauce to a boil and return to medium-low heat. Season with salt and pepper as needed. Allow sauce to cook for 3 minutes.
3. Serve the chicken over cooked pasta and spoon the sauce over both. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.

Safety in and around your home should always be a top priority for you and your family. As a renter, you may have some unique security concerns. Here are some practical ideas to implement into your daily routine that will help keep you and your loved ones safe.• ALWAYS lock your front
door – even if you are going outside for a few minutes to take out the trash or talk to a neighbor.
• Never keep a hide-a-key under your front doormat or anywhere outside your residence. Instead, keep a copy of your house key with a trustworthy family member or long-time friend.
• Carry your car keys as you walk across the parking lot to your car. Your panic alarm is a great tool that could scare off offenders. Also, park in a well-lit area at night.
• Link-up with your local Neighborhood Watch program, or start one. Visit the National Crime Prevention Council website - ncpc.org - for resources. If several people in your community are being watchful, crime rates are proven to decrease.
• BE AWARE of your surroundings. Always take a quick look around you when leaving, and arriving at, your residence. Use your instincts – if it seems unsafe, it probably is.

New ReleasesMonth Ahead Travel PlannerIn early September, consider traveling to Denver, Colorado, or Madison, Wisconsin for two events that entice tourists from all over the country.
On September 4 through 7, visitors can take part in the Rocky
Mountain region’s largest dining and entertainment extravaganza of this year.
Denver calls the event “A Taste of Colorado.” It features food prepared by some 50 Denver restaurants, including the specialties that have put each one on the gourmet map.
The festival includes music on six outdoor stages, gourmet cooking demonstrations, 280 arts and crafts vendors, camping, plus children’s music and activities. Half a million people visit the event, which runs through Labor Day on the 7th.
On September 5 and 6, Wisconsin also offers a dining experience for everyone from
Midwesterners to world travelers. “The Taste of Madison” is held on the big Courthouse Square.
The food and entertainment event features specialties made by 80 different restaurants. Keeping the excitement factor high, there’s live music on three outdoor stages.
A quarter of a million visitors take part in the two-day event every year.
