Making Cereal ArraysUsing a pencil, draw large boxes on a piece ofpaper. Using 9 pieces of cereal, make 3 even rowsinside the first square (see picture for example). Thisis called an array, we can describe it as 3 rows of 3is 9. For the purpose of multiplication, we can alsosay that 3 x 3 = 9 (3 multiplied by 3 equals 9).Try again with 16 pieces of cereal. How many werein each row? How many rows could you make?

3D Shape Describing GameYou will need someone to play this game with you.Using a post it note, write the name of a 3D object(there are options down below for you to choosefrom) and give it to your partner. They will put thepost it note on their head without looking at thename of the object. You will then need to give yourpartner clues to help them guess the name of the3D object.For example, you might write ‘sphere’ on your postit note. Then a clue you might give them is ‘it hasone curved face’ and ‘it is the same shape as atennis ball’.Draw the 3D object on a piece of paper and writeyour clues underneath.

Optionalextension

Play the post it note game again but this time try to describe the object by telling your partner how manyfaces, corners or edges it has. You may also like to tell them whether it has curved faces or flat faces.

Peggy Egg Cups❏ Get an adult to help you cut out an egg cup from an empty egg carton. See images below.❏ Paint the egg cup a colour of your choice. You will need to paint the inside, allow this to dry and then paint the

outside and allow this to also get dry. Texta or coloured pencils can also be used.❏ Make Peggy’s beak using yellow coloured paper or white paper and yellow pencil or texta. Cut the correct size and

shape of the beak and glue to the front of the egg cup.❏ Next make Peggy’s comb (top of her head) using red coloured paper or white paper and red pencil or texta. Cut

the correct size and shape of the comb and glue to the front of the egg cup.❏ Draw on Peggy’s eyes using black pencil or texta.
