What is the Flow of the Blood?There are two types of blood vessels (tubes that carry the blood) in the circulatory system.

Arteries-vessels that carry oxygen richblood away from the heart (arteries, blood flows away from the heart)Veins-vessel that carries oxygen poorblood to the heart. (veins, visit the heart)In the capillaries, the smallest veins and arteries meet and exchangeoxygen, CO2 and other nutrients.

How does the flow of blood work?

How Does the Respiratory System Work?

When you inhale, your diaphragm contracts (tightens) and moves down and your chest expands. This gives your lungs space to expand and sucks air in.

Capillaries in the alveoli (tiny air sacks in the lungs) take the oxygen from the air, and release CO2

Circulatory/Respiratory Working TogetherWhen you exhale, your diaphragm relaxes, forcing CO2out from your lungs, trachea (windpipe), and mouth or nose.
